The fate of the 11 abducted Lebanese pilgrims remains unknown as officials confirm that efforts are still ongoing to release the men and that they are in good condition.
“Contacts are ongoing with all sides to determine (the fate of the pilgrims) and we ensure their families that they are fine and safe,” Prime Minister Najib Miqati told As Safir on Tuesday.
However, he noted that there’s no substantial evidence about the whereabouts of the men.
For his part, Speaker Nabih Berri voiced hope that the upcoming 48 hours would hold a clear view regarding the case.
“We are exerting efforts to release the kidnapped men,” he said in comments published in As Safir.
Sources close to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri told An Nahar that the Turkish authorities are trying to resolve the case.
“Hariri only cares about the arrival of the kidnapped men to Lebanon, he has no other ambitions in this regard,” they said.
Meanwhile, the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat reported that Ammar Dadikhi brigade is responsible for the abduction of the pilgrims in Reef Aleppo.
Sources said that this brigade is an extremist, anti-Syrian President Bashar Assad group but it isn’t linked to the Free Syrian Army.
The pilgrims, who were snatched in northern Syria on May 22, were reported as having arrived in Turkey on Friday.
However, conflicting reports emerged about the whereabouts of the abducted men as they were expected to arrive in Lebanon on Friday but an unclear problem occurred and halted their release.

eh you are right, we saw the government you highjacked and the work you are doing ,. you can't even agree between each others in a one colored government and you talk about desorientation and uncertainty ! grow up a brain loser you are really in a need !
wi should thank AOuaou becasue we could have got all of these in 2006/7 when your MPS were sleeping in tents in DT loser ;)
this opposition has fractured bashar's regime that can not control syria after 15 months of death and destruction. This opposition is spreading to damascus and aleppo, do not underestimate the power of the masses, it will prevail in the end, you are just too racist and blind to see that.
The whole story behind the kidnapping is that some group is sending a clear message to the m8 , pro-syria , HB and mainly shiites to reconsider there policies or else they will get a taste of there own poison .
When you are bieng opressed , raped , robbed , killed , and tortured day and night then you have only one option to is to resort to foreign powers (common sense) .
what is permited for you is the same for others FT , deal with it loser ;)
you didnt ask foreign powers to wage a war for you ? what was the July 2006 ? IDF came into lebanon and you protected the country ? Loser !
waw! forgetting from where M8 get their orders... iran and syria... double M8 standards as usual with FT!!!
On the way hope, pass by the Syrian prisons and get the other abducted Lebanese home
This is very dangerous for Lebanon.
When the news of the abduction came - The only thing that prompted the Shiaa protesters to calm down was their trust in Nasrallah re-assurance that the abducted are ok, and they are working on their release...What will happen if that trust is broken, and the abductees were found to be murdered??? What will calm them down then??? - chances are they won't listen to Nasrallah, and things will go out of hand.
The Maestro - the one who has been playing with Lebanon's fate recently - has now acquired a card that would enflame Sunni/Shiaa strife. And everyone is trying to figure out how he will play it.
why would there be a strife in lebanon for something happening in syria? it isn t a lebanese group that abducted the pilgrims but syrians!
was there a strife because 3 lebanese pilgrims got killed in irak by a roadside bomb and others wounded?
so why would there be one now? other than because of M8 double standards?...
so, if there is a strife in lebanon because of that it would mean that lebanese are beyond mental salvage...
Could you all stop guys...we don t want another war...haven t you learn anything. enough! enough! Plz all just chill..stop it..i am begging you...ALL...I mean all.
