Gunmen robbed a bank in al-Damour region on Thursday morning, succeeding in escaping with an undisclosed sum of money, reported the National News Agency.

The four masked gunmen, riding a grey B.M.W. X5 with tinted windows, broke into Federal Bank of Lebanon in al-Damour and robbed it through the force of arms.

They then fled the scene.

Voice of Lebanon radio later reported that they made off with L.L.100 million.

Security forces soon arrived at the bank and launched an investigation in the crime.

Seriously.. this is getting ridiculous..
I've been living abroad for more than 8 years now, and all I can dream of is reading good news about Lebanon, what goes on in these people's minds??
Btw isn't it the same car used when these random guys murdered a guy for a scooter or something? The ones shot on the security cam.
It's just so saddening to have to read news like that on daily basis, there's no love of the nation, no respect for anything or anyone, no nothing..
Obsession over religions, money and power, so much filth it hurts to watch..
One can only hope to see the one day people worthy of this Nation inhabit it.

you are right Ram (Guest) but im sure the country your in has much more crime. i live in australia ,and there are low lifes bashing 80+ year old people in there homes or on the street over 20 dollars (example).. All the kids and large amount of adults are "cooked" on drugs" . i love australia and lebanon, but i lived in lebanon from 2005-2010,and they were the best 5 years of my life so far. lebanese people are the best when you take away politics and provide basic resources or jobs for them.

this is the 3rd bank robbery i read about in naharnet. last 2 were in the khalde area...damour is not far away. ALL 3 incidents involved gunmen in a gray bmw x5 with tinted windows.

Let's build a network of HD CCTV cameras in every street and road of Lebanon. Criminals would no longer be able to hide...

If it's controlled by the state/municipalities then I agree 100%

Great idea. We can do it right after we take care of the electricity problem :d

Thumb thepatriot 14 June 2012, 13:12

CCTV sure...but some people are alloud to carry guns in this country, and it sets a pretty bad example I would say...

Thumb geha 14 June 2012, 13:18

Hizbushaitan refused the installation of CCV cameras in Beirut, and we all know why :)

Thumb geha 14 June 2012, 14:10

to the blind FT:
right after the blast that killed rafic hariri, the beirut municipality wanted to install cctv cameras in the whole of the beirut area, and hizbushaitan refused categorically. these are facts you can check in the annals of that period in all newspapers.

correct!

He isn't blind, He's simply dishonest.

Thumb mowaten 15 June 2012, 06:29

the problem with the camera is that it was not CCTV (CC stands for closed-circuit), it was a system that very weirdly was meant to transmit their images up to a satellite and back down to an observation station on the ground. Knowing that we dont even have satellites, guess who's satellite we were going to use for that?
and guess what neighbor of ours has the ability to wiretap such system?
i'm sorry but i agree with hezbollah's refusal of being under constant & live US/azraeli surveillance. once more, they foiled a conspiracy by the azraeli slaves in lebanon

i like your idea Flame, very imaginative, very effective indeed.
Should check if it is feasable cost wise though..LOL

Flame / Geha
I remember clarifying this issue before...but hey here is a reminder
Hizbullah did indeed object to CCTV plan back then. But to be fair, the plan was to have the camera broadcast live feed via a satellite link to Internal Security Headquarters.
What is an even better plan, is like prime-suspect suggested, have each shop, store, and municipal authorities, install their private CCTV all over the streets of Lebanon from North to South, East to West.
That way, when Masked Gunmen execute a crime, the security agencies would be able to trace their steps all the way back to which building they came out from to embark in their car (and they wouldn't have their maskes on because that would stand out in public).

Thumb mowaten 15 June 2012, 06:32

oh haden't seen that when i posted above, but repeating twice the same thing isn't superfluous with these blind readers

Thumb normzz117 16 June 2012, 15:52

Mowaten you dont believe we can be watched via sat? are you kidding me?

Missing anonymetexasusa 14 June 2012, 16:58

Oh i forgot to give the reason that Hizbullah gave when they objected to the camera plan then...They were afraid that live broadcast feed via Satellite link would be easily intercepted/deciphered by Israel.

Good idea FT with the sleeping gas, however as you know before the ISF or Army can even leave the baracks they will need to check and get approval on the identity of the culprits. If the culprits are well connected then its all in vain. In some cases the culprits could be called liberators....or safeguarding democracy...or maybe keepers of the sacred crypt.

Thumb normzz117 16 June 2012, 15:46

flame there is such a gas being used in the modern world for security to banks and other places,it fogs up quick and the robber or anyone cannot see anything within seconds.
