Boko Haram Claims Weekend Funeral Carnage in Nigeria

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamists on Tuesday claimed a weekend attack at a graveyard in central Plateau state that left at least 22 people dead, including two prominent politicians.

Police and officials have blamed nomadic herdsmen for the raid, but in a statement issued from purported spokesman Abul Qaqa, Boko Haram said it "wants to inform of its delight over the success of the attacks we launched... in Plateau state."

Can anyone explain what are the goals of this "Boko Haram" ? Another barbaric attack signed in the name of islam while the muslims remain silent....

Unfortunately what you say is true.
Nigeria had a devastating civil war in the 60's that ended with each "tribe" or religious group living in a different part of the country. Later on, they overcame this and lived anywhere looking for work etc. But, whenever tensions rise, you find people killing each other in the streets
"Boko Haram" is Hausa and translates into "western culture/books are taboo"
It is an extremist Muslim group that believe in killing Christians. They started with horrific bombings and now ask Christians to get out of "Muslim states". This is impossible because Nigerians of all religions are living together everywhere.
Yes, it is a shame that Muslims are remaining silent around the world but it is similar to Al Qaeda, the Taliban and others who murder in the name of Islam. No decent Muslim agrees with their ideologies and you cannot blame Muslims everywhere for this (not that I am saying you are, I am referring to your comment on Muslims remaining silent)

Karim , i mean you no disrespect but I have read your comments with complete shock.

I am genuinely curious about this Wahhabism you speak of, and where we can find it.

I lived in Beirut for most of my life and never saw a sign of Wahabism. I'm not a Hariri supporter, and frankly I used to dislike him. but upon observation I can objectively say the following

It is sufficient to switch on future Tv to see how liberated the women are as individuals. You can also take a look at mustakbal rallies.I never saw the women seperated from the men and sitting behind as I can observe with other parties. (the former minister of finance was a woman too) At least on those fronts you can extrapolate that the movement is not extremist. Extremists do not even tolerate different ideologies outside their own organizations and circles.

I advise you to watch the lbc report that came out 2 days ago about sour and how the festivals are cancelled and the bars all closed because they are being submitted to pressure from people who want to impose their own ways, instead of letting everyone have a free choice. I never saw "wahabis" imposing any way of life on anyone in Lebanon.

I wish you could reconsider you beliefs under observable circumstances

Or at least see that the future movement has a lot of signs of moderation and tolerance. And that, in my opinion should be applauded and supported instead of constantly attacking them with no real grounds.

Those people may have had some shady activity in the past, but that does not make them extremists. At least give them that.

Accomplices? So if you don't go and personally stop them too, does that make you an accomplice? Ridiculous.

Any act of violence by ANY religious group should be condemned and treat the aggressors as savages. BUT we should not generalize and blame all Muslims for the act of few deranged groups and to the ones that say Moderate Muslims are doing nothing that's not true at all and one more thing Saad Hariri is a moderate Muslim and instead of supporting him, he's being constantly attacked by some ignorant people...amazing really...

they were not doing it in the name of Christianity. Those Christians are not justified by any teachings of the gospels and are not supported by any clerics edicts.
Deteronomy and exodus are books from the old testament which are read but not accepted by Christians as their life's rule.
There are no Christian nations in the world and Chrsitianity propered during and after Jesus time by the word and not by the sword. Although in far history some christians have imposed Christianity by force they were not acting according to the new testament's teachings.

3rd opart.

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Finally and please forgive me

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)
Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)
