Syrian renewed on Sunday its demand to Lebanon to prevent the infiltration of “terrorist groups” from its territories into its own.

Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem stated: “We hope Lebanon would help thwart the infiltration, which will benefit it and Syria.”

He made his remarks after holding talks on the Syrian crisis with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran.

Muallem added: “We are keen on Lebanon’s stability.”

The minister made his statements on Lebanon when asked by a reporter if Syria will activate its military cooperation agreement with Iran should it be attacked by international powers.

He responded that Syria has the sufficient capabilities to defend itself.

He then went on to discuss Lebanon to which the reporter clarified that he had not asked about Lebanon, but Iran.

Muallem replied: “Syria has sufficient capabilities to defend itself, whether you are talking about Iran or Lebanon.”

Meanwhile, Syrian television reported on Sunday morning that authorities had made direct hits against “terrorist gangs” attempting to enter Syria’s Tall Kalakh region from Lebanon.

- Thanks but no thanks; last time Syria was "keen on Lebanon’s stability”, the Lebanese civil war erupted, similar to Syria's ongoing internal conflict..
Fatso must be in denial

Lebanon should allow all terrorists to go to Syria -- both March 14 and March 8 should agree to this. It is wonderful if all terrorist, especially Lebanese ones go to fight the daunting task of JIHAD in Syria. If HA fighters want to join this holy war they should be ALLOWED to do so, but only on Syrian territory. Good luck to both sides!

The same way you couldn't control your borders with Irak, and told the americans in those days, you can't do better then them with their mexican borders, then we tell you the same you pig! You couldn't control the flow of arms too, to the terrorists organisations in Lebanon, since you provided them with weapons you pig !

Why is it our job to protect your borders? We've never been able to protect our borders properly from riff raff coming into Lebanon (remember shaker el 3absi and co?) But now that the boot is on the other foot, you want more secure borders. Have a bit of your own medicine...
