Syrian Army Controls All of Damascus

The Syrian army now has the whole of the capital under its control, a brigadier-general on Saturday told journalists visiting the neighborhood of Tadamun, the scene of heavy fighting earlier.
"We have cleansed all the districts of Damascus, from Al-Midan to Mazzeh, from Al-Hajar Al-Aswad to Qadam... to Tadamun," said the general who led the military operation in Tadamun, refusing to give his name.
The officer said regime forces retook the southern district at 2:00 pm (11:00 GMT) on Saturday, and that it was the last rebel bastion in the city to revert to army hands.
Fighting erupted in Damascus on July 15 and raged for several days as rebels seized several districts, forcing thousands of residents to flee for safety from what had for many months been the country's safest city.
"The situation in Damascus is excellent and stable," the general said.
"There is no more presence of armed groups apart for some individuals who are moving from one place to another, just to prove that they exist."
When clashes erupted earlier on Saturday in Tadamun, the scene of heavy fighting a fortnight ago, Syrian state television said: "The special forces were cleansing the district of Tadamun from terrorists."

If this is a regime source, these are the folks who have been lying all along. I would consider the source. They said the same thing about Homs. Is Homs still "rebel free..?". He'll, no.
These guys are whistling past the grave yard. Their day is done. By hanging around trying to pretend otherwise, they are only causing more bloodshed, death and destruction; creating more profits for the arms dealers; and making it more likely that radical Islamists and Qaida types come into Syria making the post war period that much more complicated to resolve.

They're celebrating a return to a status quo from weeks ago. They control all of Damascus. What an achievement when two months ago there was not one part of Damascus that was even possible for the rebels to enter. What does this tell you about the future?

The population of Syria is 22 million. Why the Syrian army is still so powerful? & if so why the opposition refuse to negotiate with the regime?. This will @ least stop the bloodshed.
