Jumblat: Syrian People Paying Price for Suspicious American, Russian Interests

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat stated on Monday that the latest positions on Syria indicate that a regional and international conspiracy has been devised against the Syrian people.

He noted in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine the “suspicious American and Russian interests in Syria” as demonstrated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s remarks that the Syrian army will not withdraw from the cities and Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey’s refusal to impose a no-fly zone over Syria.

“These two stances will eventually lead to Syria’s classification as a failed state,” added the MP.

“It is as if some regional and western powers are seeking to reconstruct what is left of the Sykes-Picot agreement,” continued Jumblat.

Moreover, he noted that a second bombing had taken place in Syria’s Jarmana district, accusing the Syrian regime of being behind the attack in order to “intimidate the people and force them to take up arms to defend themselves.”

“The regime and some Druze powers, known for their shortsightedness, are behind this plan,” stated the PSP leader.

“These Druze powers are conspiring with some of the Jabal al-Arab leaders to drag the Druze people in Syria into an armed conflict with the revolutionaries,” he said.

“This falls in line with the regime’s plans to create strife in Syria to eliminate the progress the revolt has been making in Syria,” Jumblat added.

He therefore warned “all nationals and honorable men against this scheme.”

“The awareness of the Syrian people and their massive sacrifices will lead them to victory,” declared the MP.

Walid, you better be careful when you leave your home. Syria and its Lebanese proxies put a bounty on your head. We appreciate the truth tho. .gracias.

Enough blaming foreign powers for our ignorance, religious segregation, and loss of patriotism.
If Arab regimes like Syria stop their practice of bloody dictatorship, we won't have people fighting along religious lines. Assad is not the only Bashar. Saudi kingdom acts like Bashar if threatened, Bahrain acts like him as well, Hizbullah demolish all his antagonist......so are you Jumblatt.

u seriously comparing Jumblat to Bashar and HA ? wow ... anyway !!! he is not blaming them, he is saying current decisions being taken are suspicious of more than what meets the eye. The real blame lies with the people. They allow this to happen, they give the government the power to control them and soon they find themselves powerless, like ALL arab countries, including Lebanon. the people have no value, which is why its so easy for them to manipulate and kill. We did this to ourselves.

Just like Bashar killed Sunnis, Jumblat killed Christians (aligned with the Palastenians against the state back then). Just like Bahsar is protected by the alawites, Jumblat is guarded onnly by Druze members of the army/ISF .... poor Lebanon it is so secterian and secterianism is practiced even by those that preach otherwise.

Well said sanelebanese ..... you were very fair in including everyone and not being biased in attacking some and cpvering for others. The Middle East is rich in Ignorance, Intolerance and prejudice.

Jadski, you agree that it's the people fault, not Russia, nor US,,,,and yes the people gave up their power to their religious figure. Jumblatt is selling us more BS, by blaming Israel, US, Iran,or Russia for our own weakness. pull the rug from underneath these autocrats, and we will all be fine. BTW, Jumblatt like others terminated his opposition during Lebanese civil war. There was only one non-militia style Lebanese leader, Rafik Hariri and they destroyed him. Whats left:Aoun, Samir, Walid, Nabih, HA ....are all the dictators of varying size.

i do not disagree with u. however, i still do not think he is blaming, he is pointing out events. and trying to make people aware of these certain events. no other politician brings the insight he does. dont get me wrong, I'm not a jumblati , i am only lebanese.

Jumblat is ahead of his time and can read the events on the ground quite accurately and deeply. The USA and Russia are really teaming up to destroy Syria and the Syrian people. There’s no other explanation to the USA’s procrastination other than they are conspiring to kill as many Syrians as possible in the hope if letting them relinquish their claims to the Gollan Heights. The American administration is a proxy for Israel. Everyone knows that.
