The army detained on Saturday Hassan Karaki in the Beirut southern suburb of al-Kafaat, the National News Agency reported.
Hassan, who is also known as Antar, was arrested after he opened fire at an army patrol in Beirut's southern suburbs of al-Ghobairi on Friday.
The army issued a communique confirming the arrest.
Several members of the army were wounded as they were pursuing Karaki, who is wanted on several charges, on Friday.
The Army Command announced that two officers and a number of soldiers were wounded in armed clashes that ensued during the pursuit.
It said that the soldiers came under fire by various gunmen as they were chasing the main suspect Karaki.
Reinforcements soon arrived where they cordoned off the area and began to conduct raids in the neighborhood.
A number of suspects were arrested, said the Army Command.
Karaki is charged with attempted murder and involvement in recent armed clashes.
Guys, I am beginning to like the army a lot more these days. Now it is beginning to look more and more like a real army, let's hope this becomes permanent and not just a mirage. Then I hope the ISF and the Darak will also start to toe the line, yes, especially them the Darak, the pajama patrols.
Anyone who opens fire on an Army patrol, only deserves one thing - a bullet in the head.
True guys but there are lots of Lebanese out there by birth who have no repsect for the Army instead they heed the call of any other nation that pays well. Poor Lebanese army soldiers they get shot at and if they complain well...they get shot again! lol
