Walid al-Muallem and his Deputy Land in Beirut Airport

The two officials arrived at the airport on board a private jet before heading to New York on board a regular flight through a layover in Germany.
The National News Agency said that they arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport amid strict security measures.
Syria has been witnessing anti-regime protests since March 2011.
Some 30,000 people have been killed in the regime's violent crackdown against protesters and no Syrian official has visited Beirut since the eruption of the unrest.
