Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem and his deputy Faisal al-Moqdad arrived on Tuesday at Beirut international airport.

The two officials arrived at the airport on board a private jet before heading to New York on board a regular flight through a layover in Germany.

The National News Agency said that they arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport amid strict security measures.

Syria has been witnessing anti-regime protests since March 2011.

Some 30,000 people have been killed in the regime's violent crackdown against protesters and no Syrian official has visited Beirut since the eruption of the unrest.

Good point......I am not sure they could get visas to the US. They were there to review Ali and tell him to be less of a thug for a while.

Trigger.....that may not be a joke. I wonder if any of them will defect? I am sure he ate plenty of good Lebanese food before he left, while his people starve.
