Connelly Stresses to Miqati Need for Syrian Regime to Respect Lebanon's Sovereignty

W460

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly expressed on Thursday her country's “grave concern” over Syria continued shelling of and incursions into Lebanon’s border region, said the U.S. Embassy in a statement.

She stressed to Prime Minister Najib Miqati “the United States’ expectation that the Syrian regime respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon.”

The ambassador emphasized that “the responsibility for the violence in Syria and the violence that threatens to spill over from Syria falls squarely on the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.”

Connelly and Miqati also addressed the premier's recent trip to New York where he attended the United Nations General Assembly.

The talks also focused on the political and security situation in Lebanon, along with regional developments.

The ambassador renewed the commitment of the United States to a stable, sovereign and independent Lebanon.

In other words, the Syrian regime seems to not be going anywhere anytime soon. But Dr. Geageastradamus predicted, again and again, that it might fall some day! wlak min addak ya 7ak.....awati sakhif?

lol she's just too much, a walking embarrassment for human kind, and i'm not talking about the gluttony that made her look like a monster, i'm talking about the hypocrisy of talking about respecting our sovereignty, while she encourages the daily violation of lebanese soverignty by israeli warplanes, while she encourages violation of syrian sovereignty by sending weapons and fueling the war

Shows how respectful and objective you are when you attack a diplomat of being fat. Don't let me get started on obesity rates and gluttony in your own 'ranks'.
And she's not 'encouraging' violations of Lebanon's sovereignty. On the contrary, I think by condemning Hizbullah she's actually discouraging the biggest violations we can have.
And I don't know if they're sending weapons, but I think they're fuelling a 'revolution' not a 'war'. Let's get our terms straight. Toppling a serial killer dictator is not a war :)
But then again, you have the IQ of a bottle cap, you've proven that throughout the years.

because the gvt is too afraid to lose their privileges and power so they act like a faithful syrian puppet ...

It's kind of ironic that a foreign ambassador telling our prime minister to protect Lebanon!! is that the real intent...or something else? Like doesn't Nagib Miqati know that already..... what kind of political talk is that....

Miqati looks perplexed judging by this picture, but all the same, what's the US ambassador saying that is not right? Syria must respect our sovereignty even though it never did. But today Bashar Al Assad is facing what Hitler did in WW2 when Churchill got him meddled with the Russia front, a most unwanted front has been opened for him, that of the Turkish border. If Turkey adds anymore pressure on the Syrian military, then Bashar's departure would come sooner than expected. By all estimates, this pictures looks more and more likely. At the UN it's an impasse, so on the ground matters could change faster than we know.
