Hariri Questions Timing of Israeli Assault on Gaza: It Aims to Shift Attention Away from Syria Revolt

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri slammed on Thursday the Israeli assault against the Gaza Strip, saying that it demonstrates the “hostile policy of Israel against the Palestinians and Arab people in general.”

He said in a statement: “The occurrence of the attack simultaneously with the ongoing Syrian revolution poses questions over its timing and is a sign of the clear intentions to thwart the revolt as much as possible.”

“The assault demonstrates Israel's insistence to cut any possibility to reactivate the peace process,” he added.

“It is seeking to maintain its control over all occupied territories and prevent all efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state,” continued the former premier.

“We renew our solidarity with our brothers in Gaza and call on Arab countries and all influential international ones to mobilize immediately to halt the Israeli assault and prevent its expansion,” stressed Hariri.

Israel launched a bruising air, naval and artillery offensive on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the most intense assault on the Palestinian territory in four years.

The operation was launched with the assassination of Hamas' top military commander, followed by an onslaught of airstrikes and shelling by tanks and naval gunboats.

The guy is right. Israel is Syria's ally.... Hezbollah is Syria's ally. Does anybody else see a conflict of interests?

Israel ~ Syria's ally ... LOL!

Missing realist 15 November 2012, 21:12

yes israel is the Alawites ally, not Syria, 50 years of not a single shot in the golan heights. Have you noticed how only this year 2012 after the glorious syrian revolution that the golan FINALY is starting to pose a headache for israel?!!? or are you too blind.

Big time.....! It's all part of the plan. At the end of the day....it all comes down to the few powerful (wealth pigs) masterminding plans among each other to control the mass. With respect to the Arabs....it's plan of control through religion.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.............

Thumb bigsami 15 November 2012, 18:22

Not at all....I beleive in a loving "God" that preaches nothing but good towards one another. This totally differs from the 'God' that HA uses to manipulate naive followers like yourself based on intimidation, violence and human blood.

"you can be sure they would have used their military might to crush and silence everyone, especially those who keep provoking them. "

that is a typical hezbi stupid comment. hezbis don t want to take the gvt nor hold power. they prefer to pull all the strings from behind and make people like you believe they are working for the good of lebanon!
having a weak country suits their policy. weakness means they can do whatever they want, they can keep their arms and play the iranian game! they can deal their drugs, they can smuggle weapons as much as they want, they can replace the state in the regions they control and so on...
so they don t give a sh... about a strong state, it doesn t suit them! and you dare say they are patriots? lol!
in that sense are they allied with israel because israel too doesn t want a strong lebanon. they prefer it divided and hezbi make sure it stays divided...

Hariri is the ally of the zionist, he always was. He is more interested in killing Syrians than in stopping Netanyahu killing Palestinians and in making Lebanon a safe place for Libanese people. His words are empty words, when it comes to actions/sanctions that offend Netanyahu Hariri becomes a zio-slave!
The only one in the Arabic world who seriously tried to protect the rights of the Palestinians is the Syrian government, Syria tried for decades to get the Arabic League to take action, but Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Hariri always rejected. Hariri is more loyal to the zio-Saudi/Qatar agenda than to anything else.

Thumb geha 15 November 2012, 17:43

there is currently a high probability that the Syrian regime and hizbushaitan will enter in the war with israel.
the need for that is deblock the situation of the Syrian regime and iran and force everyone on the conference table as equals, so they can save their regimes. as usual we will pay a high price.

Default-user-icon Knights Templar (Guest) 15 November 2012, 14:45

LOL Its amazing. First Hariri is questioning the timing. How transparent is his desperation. Secondly all the zionist spooks aligning the zionist state with Syria is just tasteless comedy.

No, not Simon Templar but Kenyan Templar. And I hasten to add, I also foresee the zionist states' stupidity affecting Lebanese public opinion vastly. Hariri ~ "“The occurrence of the attack simultaneously with the ongoing Syrian revolution poses questions over its timing and is a sign of the clear intentions to thwart the revolt as much as possible.”"

What a tool of the Saudi~Qatar salafist regimes. That Israel timed this because it wanted to thwart the Syrian revolution is preposterous.

The likely timing of Israel's attack is to coverup its' defeat at the UN where the Palestinians will get observer status unless Abbas gets cold feet.

Thumb ado.australia 15 November 2012, 16:46

Or a upfront message for Obama to respond and take sides, after bibi Netanyahu openly campaigned for Romney.

Obama and Netanyahu hate each other!

Missing mmckinl 15 November 2012, 17:09

Take sides in regards to what?

The US already said it would veto Observer status for Palestine.

It will pass without the US vote as it is the General Assembly not the Security Council that matters.

As far as Gaza, Netanyahu has the US go ahead.

In Syria the US is already giving aid to the rebels and al Qaeda and weapons through the back door.

Obama will deal with Netanyahu in good time, just not now. Obama has serious domestic issues at hand.

Saad al Hariri is not wise. Lets put it clearly, he's not his father, which I & I think the far majority of Lebanese deeply respect; but young Saad should remain quiet for his own benefit, less is more in this case.

Missing peace 15 November 2012, 15:33

i don t have a clue about the timing but one thing is sure: israel prefers the regime of bashar to stay in place as it is a guarantee of peace in the golan heights which makes him tacitly an ally to israel! those who claim that syria is a "resistant" country against israel are not afraid of appearing ridiculous!

Missing peace 15 November 2012, 15:36

another thing is that hamas is divided between those who support the FSA and those who still obey iran. i wouldn t be surprised if iran was under all this....

Missing mmckinl 15 November 2012, 16:08

"i wouldn t be surprised if iran was under all this...."

Could very well be Iran. The missile attacks increased on orders. But it also could be Sudan wanting revenge, for Israeli attacks. Sudan was said to be the Hamas supplier.

So let me get this straight. When a bomb goes off in Lebanon killing M14 and many other innocent bystanders, M8 is on here conjuring up the most absurd and preposterous conspiracy theories. Then they are surprised by our responses when we say the most like scenario is the usually the correct one. Saad says one thing about the timing and every M8 hypocrite is on crying "this is preposterous ". Ha!

Missing mmckinl 15 November 2012, 17:49

I believe the word preposterous was used to describe one posters declaration that "Israel is Syria's ally ..."

Saad is an idiot or a Saudi hand puppet ... The timing has everything to do with Palestines' observer status being up for a vote in 2 weeks.

Some people are so politically brain washed it makes me sick. Israel doesn't need Assad. The rebels are backed by the US, Saudis and the French. Those countries will never let the Rebels touch Israel or they will cut funding and military help. The only reason Israel is attacking Gaza is to solidify Netanyahu's support and allow him to win a majority in the current elections.

Missing peace 15 November 2012, 20:26

yes they do till he guarantees peace in golan... why is that syria never did a thing to free golan neither shot a single bullet?
they prefer shooting their own people. what a courageous regime backed by hezbis and iran, isn t it?

Thumb independent 15 November 2012, 22:52

that's not the point! The syrian coalition will also guarantee peace in golan. They are too dependent on western countries to harm their ally. My point is this war has not been started to help Assad and his regim but to help netanyahu in the elections. The brain washed people are those who see every military action as a conspiracy. The Hezb sees conspiracies everywhere to harm them and Saad is seeing conspiracies to help Bachar!

HA does not give an F about palestine or israel or or, how else can you explain Fayez karam oiut of jail? how else can you explain the assasination of Al 7assan (who caught fayes karama nd 30 israeli rings) by HA, is israel high on the agenda?? the answer is absolutely not. The priority is consolidation of power over lebanon, helping bashar crush the sunis. I agree with you for the first bit but not for the second part. No sir, not “ the far majority respect the father” only those who benefited from him financially did. He was also the servant of the Wahhabi,, salafi, American, Israeli clan it has been seen, then he made for Lebanon nothing other than taking Beirut for life through Solidere and making Billions, yes building Roads, Tunnels, and left the people, but for us, no Water, No Electrivity, No Transport infrastructure. The man who did this is not to be admired. Now his son, day after day has to speak and play as if he is Politician. Where is his competence in this field, where is his university degree, in politics or any other field. My Hariri son, shut up and stay where you are for the sake of Lebanon.

March 14, Arab Springalists, my compatriots, this is what cheikh Saad al-Haribi Telteyn al-Marajil is saying: “We (meaning he. his cousin the other blob Ahmad, the Sunni Rambo al-Asseer Wafosso 7ami and the Palestinian Sunni Che Guevara al-Fadel Shakhekh) renew our solidarity with our brothers in Gaza and call on Arab countries and all influential international ones to mobilize immediately to halt the Israeli assault and prevent its expansion.” I bet you the Arab countries and more so the influential international ones like the Canary Islands, East Timor and Barbados have already mobilized and halted the Israeli assault even though it was the forces of evil and backwardness and voodoo powers (but luckily for them this time they are not of the Wilayat al-Faqih nonsense) who run out of ways to provoke the loving and peaceful people called the Israelis, March 14's best friends. Isn't cheikh al-Haribi a caring and reasonable leader? I love this man. You too?
