Examining Magistrate Judge Ziad Makna demanded in his indictment the death penalty against the killer of 22-year-old Roland Chbeir, who was murdered on October 28 by his friend.

Al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Tuesday that Makna accused Charbel Shallita of committing a premeditated crime.

Shallita had confessed earlier of committing the crime for financial reasons.

Chbeir went missing on October 24 after Shallita lured his friend to an empty area in Jbeil on allegations that he wanted to sell him a piece of land, then he shot him twice in the back.

The killer had even attended the victim's funeral in Fidar where he sat with Chbeir's family members.

Internal Security Forces found the hunting rifle that Shallita used to carry out his crime, which he borrowed from a friend, in addition to Chbeir's mobile phone and blood-soaked clothes.

Can saner Hanna's family get death for his killer too?

The issue here is that Charbel Challita is not a divine fighter, therefore he does not get the exemption. It makes sense to the distorted mind doesn't it?

Is the Pope Jewish? Do you believe in Santa? And what about Haririri's murderers and so many other crimes and attempted murders committed by the criminals of Ali Baba Nasrallah?

This horrific crime more than any other challenges to the core my strong belief that capital punishment has no place in civilized nations and should be banned. If anyone deserves the death penalty, it should be Shalitta. He is a cold-blooded murderer premeditating his barbaric actions. He will likely always be a danger to society and executing him may protect others. Nonetheless, nothing for me justifies taking other people life and all criminals should be given a chance to reform and repent. I know I'm a minority voice on this subject and I respect opposing opinions.

death penalty has proven a totally inefficient tool in reducing murders. it only satisfies the desire for revenge. but in front of cold blooded murderers or infant killers death penalty is the least justice can do. so it is a real hard issue. on the one hand, it is inefficient and morally condemnable as justice does the same it reproaches a man to do, and on the other hand, how can such people still live after destroying the lives of others?
but so many other people who killed or ordered killings during the civil war are either "respectable" politicians or were pardonned and free. so why a death sentence for one and freedom for others?
difficult choice!

Why can't you say the truth? Muslims are guests to the region--though they outnumbered the host.
