Report: Suleiman Sends Letter of Complaint to Ahmadinejad over Hizbullah Drone

Presidents Michel Suleiman is “very upset” with Iran's behavior in and positions towards Lebanon, reported the daily al-Mustaqbal on Sunday.

It revealed that Suleiman had sent last week a letter of complaint to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmedinejad over the Hizbullah drone that flew over Israel in October.

The letter voiced his objection to the action and the relay of the images capture by the unmanned drone to Iran without informing the president or the Lebanese government, said the daily.

“Such a step disregards the Lebanese people's commitment to their country's sovereignty,” stressed Suleiman in his letter.

Furthermore, he expressed his objection to “Iran's failure to address Lebanon on a state-to-state basis.”

The message was sent to Ahmadinejad by Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjoo, who had visited Lebanon last week.

On a related note, Suleiman also voiced his disappointment with the recent positions issued by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani from Lebanon.

Al-Mustaqbal said that his stances were very critical of Arab countries, which contradict the Baabda Declaration that stresses the need to keep Lebanon away from regional crises.

Larijani had paid a visit to Lebanon on Friday and Saturday where he met with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri, Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Palestinian factions.

Nasrallah had revealed in October that his party had sent a drone over Israel earlier that month.

The images it captured were sent to Iran.

Ma haydol are the ones who call themselves the "Lebanese" resistance.. these are the ones who call for the rise of the state.. the ones who call for the rule of law and of independence... what a load of crap.. nothing but an Iranian proxy, an extension of the revolutionary guard.. well no matter how much you try we will not accept you backward, bogus, and hypocritical revolution. ano 3al 2leeleh provide the pics to the Lebanese govt which you are the master of.. ano da7ako 3aleyna and say you did it for Lebanon.. you dont have to actually prove to everyone that you are Iranian through and through and it is a sham to call yourselves Lebanese.

Thumb Elemental 25 November 2012, 17:54

Suleiman did the right thing, and again more Irani's pretending to be Lebanese, acting like they own the place. This is not an Iranian province, nor a division of Syria. This is LEBANON, pretty simple huh?

who flew the drone are hizbala, not the iranians! The President should re-direct his complaints into punitive actions!

With all due respects to President Suleiman, too little, too late.

Thumb Elemental 25 November 2012, 18:06

The point is speaking up, he's the president. The more he speaks up the better, of all people to say something.

Missing helicopter 25 November 2012, 20:13

Late is better than never. The fear from Hezb is starting to subside and gradually Centrist politicians are starting to speak their minds.

I respect your courageous stance Mr. President. I only pray that you are not marked for assassination as a result. May Allah swt protect you while you are protecting and preserving Lebanon's sovereignty - ameen.

Thumb jcamerican 25 November 2012, 10:24

It is better to keep saying HA is not under lebanese command. Don't give the Israelis an excuse to punish all. The president did the right thing filing a complaint, not starting a war. Even Israel's reaction to the drone was the right one.

Missing rami 25 November 2012, 13:11

He should summon Hassan for explanations, and question his loyalty to the nation.

Thumb Elemental 25 November 2012, 18:05

Agreed, but good luck when their flag has an AK47 and there's pics of the ayatollah everywhere, that'll be interesting.

Thumb lebanon_first 25 November 2012, 15:24

I think this is a good move. He is bypassing HA alltogether as the pawn that it is, and talking to the source, to the president of Iran immediately.
Good move Mr. President. Keep the good work.

Thumb Lebfrcan 25 November 2012, 15:47

Mr. President, thank you for standing for the lebanese state sovereignty.
I sincerely hope it is not for reelection purposes.
Keep the good work and may god protect you.

Ma fi re-election, it's only one 6yr term at a time... If u don't count la7ud, cause bashar forced it, n harriri was against it, n bla bla the rest is history :)

Thumb Lebfrcan 25 November 2012, 17:47

Beirut i am talking about a second term, not the extention of the current one.

Missing beirutbastard00 25 November 2012, 18:49

Yea, the president cannot serve two terms back to back. Thats y lahud had his term extended, otherwise the constitution will have to be changed.

Thumb Lebfrcan 25 November 2012, 19:06

Thank u beirut for the correction, appreciate it.

Missing helicopter 25 November 2012, 20:17

Alf kelmit jaben wala kelmit Allah Yor2hamou. When strong M14 leaders were assassinated the movement got weaker month after month. I hate to see Sleiman follow same fate and then be greeted with some najadilarijani for president. I do appreciate him now knowing it could have been a lot worse.

Thumb LebDino 26 November 2012, 01:56

Yes and No. He is sounding better, but he still speaks from both sides of his mouth. He's not consistent yet. He's trying to please everybody, and that might be his panacea.

Missing cedars 26 November 2012, 06:02

I would double up the guards and security intelligence if I were you as Israel might assassinate you for giving Ahmadinejad hard time.
