Several western countries summoned their ambassadors to Lebanon for consultations over the local situation in light of the recent developments in the neighboring country Syria, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported on Wednesday.
According to the newspaper, French ambassador to Lebanon Patrice Paoli and U.S. Ambassador Maura Connelly headed back to their countries and are expected to return to Beirut next week.
The lingering political crisis in Lebanon has increased the rift between the March 14 alliance, which backs the revolt in Syria, and the March 8 coalition, which supports the Damascus regime, after the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Wissam al-Hasan on October 19.
The opposition boycotted political activity with its foes after it blamed Prime Minister Najib Miqati's government for covering up the crime, calling on it to step down, and said it would not sit at the same dialogue table with Hizbullah.
brace yourselves guys, it seems it is now our turn to have problems.
This doesn't sound good... secret plans for wars are under way id say... they are probably updating the ambassadors as to what to do when it starts...
or rethink their support to M14.
western powers need a stable country in the region, for them it is lebanon.
and they wont let their 'allies' go on with their rash behavior.
My guess ... No Fly Zone ...
The US will establish a no fly zone in response to their own propaganda about chemical weapons being used by the Assad regime ...
They will need Lebanese air space as Assad will undoubtedly be trying to shoot down their aircraft.
the last time NATO tested the syrian airspace was the downed turkish jet. i dont think the experience encouraged them. aslan high-ranking army officers from most of NATO countries warned against a no-fly zone in syria which they expect would result in very heavy losses for NATO
If my post is of any help, don't brace yourselves for war in Lebanon but for change, reliable sources confirm that the money to make a war is not made available. The surest indicators are that if war was an option then all the flareups since the beginning of this year would have erupted into things far more serious. The fact that they were kept low key means that there is an international willingness to keep Lebanon in relative peace. Changes? Yes, there will be meaningful changes, very different from anything we knew these past years and I would even go as far as saying, the past decades. The secret is to adapt to these new changes and not to remain hooked of things of old.
i can only hope with all my heart that you are right phoenix :)
Sure Lebdino, for the new wave of tourists coming to visit, and peace and prosperity we shall have.
