The office of the president, which has been sending out brief updates on the health of the 94-year-old Mandela, did not release any information Sunday and the presidential spokesman could not be reached for comment.

At the ruling African National Congress party conference which opened Sunday in the central city of Bloemfontein, President Jacob Zuma sang a song in Mandela's honor.

He sent his wishes for a speedy recovery and told the crowd that Mandela was being well cared for at the Pretoria hospital.
