Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi stressed on Sunday the need for honest dialogue and urged politicians not to tamper with the fate of the nation and the people.

In his sermon during mass in Bkirki, al-Rahi said there was no excuse for fears not to hold dialogue.

The March 14 opposition has boycotted the national dialogue, saying it would not sit at the same table with Hizbullah.

Politicians should end corruption and squandering of public funds which al-Rahi said are leading to deteriorating economic conditions and creating more poverty among the people.

They should also stop making counter-accusations and tampering with the fate of the state and its people, the patriarch added.

Al-Rahi met with Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun before presiding mass in Bkirki.

I just wish all religious leaders would learn to keep out of politics!

I agree with you, THOUGH when you have one "Christian representative" political party with one side (a Sunni M14) and another political party with another side (a Shia M8), SOMEBODY has to take care of the Christians INTEREST in Lebanon. So, Thank GOD we have the Patriarch, cause everyone else is following their role among their political camps.
