Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun denied on Saturday that he had insulted Sunnis, saying his political life was proof of his good ties with all Muslims.

A statement released by his press office, said that after the FPM chief denied reports about his alleged insult of the Sunni sect, the campaign by some clerics against the lawmaker continued.

The statement reiterated that all reports are untrue and “Aoun’s life at all stages is proof of his ties with all Muslims.”

According to WikiLeaks cables, Aoun has called Sunnis “terrorists” and said the “Maronite-Shiite alliance is the best way to confront the local and foreign Sunni threat.”

Everyone knows Aoun never has and never will insult any religion for any reason. He is above all that, and this man's history is crystal clear. What is insulting is to have a Muftin who is a thief and a corrupt individual, as well as a gand that has fleeced the nation of over 60 billion USD, plus 11 billion USD that are nowhere to be found. This is the real insult to the Lebanese people who have been getting the shaft all along. Only the hateful and superficial see otherwise.

EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT KABBANI IS A CORRUPT MUFTI,AND THE MONEY HE IS TAKING IS FROM DAR EL IFTA,SO INSULTING THE SUNNIS AS A RELIGION IS A COMPLETE OTHER THING
SUPPOSIDLY I DON'T LIKE GEAGEA ..AOUN..OR GEMAYEL...I DON'T INSULT THE MARONITES IF I AM AN HONEST GUY WHO LOVES LEBANON.
THERE IS A PROCESSUS ONGOING NOW TO VERIFY IF THIS KHABARIYE IS TRUE,AND I HOPE NOT.

It is truly sad to see lebanese people still supporting their leaders blindling in these sectarian and sterile battles. Lebanon lacks visionary and courageous leaders capable of uniting and educating their people to bring lebanon to the 21st century and build a modern republic. Instead they rely on promoting fear and hatred (whether they admit it or not). It is hard to defend any side here: corruption on one side, incompetence and secatrianism on the other... The conditions are not met to build a true democracy and a viable republic (i mean a lebanese one - not a combination of iranian/syrian or american/zionist one). Neither our leaders nor our people are ready for it.

Michael Young had an article posted this past week that the Assad Regime had moved to agitating sectarian divisions in Syria as a last ditch measure to hold his regime. The argument goes that if the Assad Regime implodes, leaving in its wake a Sunni-Alawite/Shia rift, then the contagin will not be limited by Syria but will go viral regionally. Therefore the regional states will have an interest in keeping the regime in place.

And here is Aoun playing the Sunni card in concert and echoing the Syrian regime tactic.
Aoun is bought and paid for. He follows the orders of his masters well, to pursue whatever agenda is delivered to him with his weekly check.

And this we call political leadership? No, this is political prostitution. Also in the stable of prostitutes with Aoun are the SSNP, Arslan, Wahab and yes, Frangieh, Berri and Jumblatt, who sometimes protests his honor, but other times gives it up.
