Demonstrators marched to Ein el-Tineh on Sunday to call for putting a draft-law that protects women against domestic violence on the agenda of the joint parliamentary committees.

The protesters, mostly women, marched from al-Sanayeh public garden towards Speaker Nabih Berri's residence under the slogan of “My Life is More Important than Your Posts.”

They held slogans urging the adoption of the draft-law.

Lawyer Layla Awada stressed that the protesters will push through their campaign until they achieve their objectives.

Only a parliamentary subcommittee has so far debated the draft-law which was approved by the government in 2010.

A law to protect women against domestic violence is long overdue. The problem is that with government institutions in such a shamble, will enforcement of such a law be a priority. It all comes down to the willingness and ability of Lebanese to work out a compromise to their crisis and truly build the institutions of government. Until the Hizb comes to accept that the state should have a monopoly on arms, I am afraid lebanon will continue to limp from one crisis to another.

Everybody please save yourselves some heartache, realize that you cannot ask anything from this so called government, it is an institution that has become more concerned in preserving the current balance of power and itself rather than being concerned with the well being and livelihood of the people... The government has forgotten that it exists to serve the people and not the other way around... There are upcoming elections and that should be an opportunity for all the Lebanese people to throw out all the unwanted garbage, alas that wold not happen since at the end of the day we will have to choose between the lesser of two evils and not the best for Lebanon

But its in your religion that Woman can be assaulted by their husband as long as they dont leave a mark, for crying out loud you say you want to be a muslim but cant live your life as one because its just humanly impossible.

My Life is More Important than Your Posts.” I like the slogan. No woman of any religion should be subjected to violence simply because the strength of a man is 10 that of a woman. Verbal dialogue is a better way for any husband and wife to solve their problems.

It is permissible by a certain religion. Those who support stopping domestic abuse against woman are infidel apostates, just like those who support civil marriage!

If you meant islam then no its not permissible, unless raping boys is permissible by the catholic religion? And dont tell me catholics are against it, because what matters is what your church has been doing in an organized way since its creation right? Dont blame islam for what sick men say and i wont blame christianity for what sick men say deal?
