French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius reiterated on Monday his country's support for the Lebanese cabinet's policy of disassociation towards Syria's war.

"We are keen on preserving stability in Lebanon and we will continue to support the cabinet's policy regarding the conflict in Syria,” Fabius said in a phone call with Prime Minister Najib Miqati.

Lebanon has publicly committed itself to staying neutral in the violence engulfing Syria, but the conflict has already exacerbated tensions in the country.

Meanwhile, Miqati called on France to provide support for the military institution.

"We also urge France and the international community to aid Lebanon in rescuing the Syrian refugees fleeing the war in the neighboring country,” the premier said during the phone conversation, explaining that ”this pressuring issue has exceeded Lebanon's potentials to deal with it”.

Lebanon is currently hosting around 300,000 Syrian refugees.
