Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati condemned on Sunday claims that he had received the names of ministerial candidates from various political blocs.

His press office said in a statement: “Up until this moment, the premier-designate has not received any names and any claims contrary to this are an attempt to conceal the truth.”

“He is insistent on refraining from getting involved in any dispute because forming a government is his priority,” it added.

“All sides are required to translate their good intentions with positive actions,” it stressed.

The Free Patriotic Movement meanwhile refuted the statement, saying: “Miqati knows the names well.”

It called on the PM-designate to “stop procrastinating because the situation can no longer bear stalling.”

The movement added that FPM leader MP Michel Aoun has not received any response to his suggestions regarding the formation of the government after he had fulfilled all that was required of him.

Miqati’s sources questioned Aoun’s accusation of procrastination, interpreting them as a sign that the premier-designate may be “liberated of his commitments.”

FPM circles stated that the movement wants the president to name the sixth Maronite minister in government on condition that he enjoys Aoun’s approval, reported As Safir on Monday.
