Algerian DiaLife has been selected as one of the semi-finalists teams for this year’s MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region Startup Competition for the Ideas Track

Idea Inspiration

Team Dialife defines entrepreneurship as follows: “It’s about tuning in to listen to problems and solving them.” A very much ‘personal’ problem called Diabetes forced the entrepreneurs behind Dialife to make the best out of their skills in technology and design an innovative solution to make the lives of diabetic patients easier and much simpler.

Diabetes is a very common chronic illness that has been increasing at an alarming rate recently mainly due to changing eating habits. And what makes Diabetes more complicated is the fact that it is not usually covered by healthcare systems. So, comes Dialife to make the lives of diabetic patients and their care givers easier.

The team describes their meet up as a quite interesting story. They originally met in a technology competition while each in a different team. They realized how much they have in common and how passionate they were about putting technology into something useful. “The chemistry was instantaneous” and they have been working together for a year and a half since then.

The Concept

DiaLife is an award-winning diabetes management solution that combines all the needs of diabetic patients and their caregivers into one simple and intuitive solution. It is a mobile and web application that simplifies the process of managing diabetes to allow patients to lead a better and simpler life.

Diabetic patients need to check their blood sugar levels, take insulin shots and watch their eating habits. They should always be on the lookout, and with the many distractions in our daily lives, being alert to these tasks is very difficult. In case of diabetic patient, this could have devastating results. Dialife will facilitate the process of managing diabetes for patients and caregivers, avoid the complications of diabetes and eventually raise awareness about the disease as a medical condition in hope of prevention.

About Joining the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab StartUp Competition

Dialife applied for the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab StartUp Competition because they are extremely excited and intrigued by the e-healthcare market of the MENA region. They believe that the MENA market is ready and in need of chronic disease management solutions. Dialife hopes to be able to leverage on their experience with the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Pan Arab Region and reach out to potential investors and partners in order to take their project to the next level.
