Abu Dhabi Expels 20 Lebanese Nationals

Oil-rich Gulf emirate Abu Dhabi expelled around twenty Lebanese nationals without any clear reasons, media reports said on Wednesday.
According to al-Akhbar newspaper, Abu Dhabi authorities deported the Lebanese citizens last week, noting that they have been living in the emirate for a long period of time.
The newspaper said that the decision came immediately into effect without allowing the Lebanese to settle their work in the UAE.
The reasons behind the deportation are still unclear, the daily said.
Earlier this month, media reports said that Saudi Arabia halted issuing visas for the Lebanese, however the Saudi embassy in Beirut denied it.
In March, Gulf Cooperation Council's secretary general Abdul Latif al-Zayani handed over to President Michel Suleiman a letter expressing “great concern” over the government's failure to abide by the Baabda Declaration.
Media reports said that the letter stressed the obstacles threatening the Lebanese-Gulf relations and the interests of Lebanon in GCC states including the conditions of around 600,000 expatriates in the Gulf.
The Baabda Declaration was sponsored by Suleiman and calls for different parties to adhere to the disassociation policy to avoid the spread of the unrest in Syria to Lebanese territories.

there is nothing arbitrary when they deport people this way(i.e. immediately): they represent a possible threat to the state.
their secret service must have registered comments overheard from these individuals thus triggering their deportation.
actually, I support roger's idea to have nasrallah and aoun to handle the income of the guys as they have done much harm to these Lebanese and to all other Lebanese in the Gulf with their actions and comments.

FT i am sure they were deported for security reason, as there would be thousands in the Abu dahbi and not just 20 shia ..when you work in another country you abide but that country's laws.

The UAE has every right to protect it self from anyone that present danger to its interest. No matter what affiliation they belong to. Lebanese must show appreciation to gulf nations that welcomed them with all their garbage during times of hardship.

Ft get over yourself. First, if anyone who is still there and feels offended by this, they can pack up and leave. Its their country and they can do whatever they want.
Second, those people and countries you say were garbage did not need us to get where they are. Maybe they didn't build their country themselves, but when they found the oil wealth, they were much more civilized than the most civilised lebanese, and spent it on developing their country and putting their population first.

Many lebanese living in the gulf states have no respect to the country they are residing in and making their living from. we can argue till dawn whether those gulf states need those lebanese or not, but bottom line is that they can be kicked out overnight if proven disrespectful.
most of these lebanse are unfortunately pro 8 march which is in the iranian sphere.

Lebanon MUST reciprocate and expel 20 UAE citizens in addition to another 20 citizens on top of that, and have the property of all Khaliji terrorist citizens confiscated and under the custody of the LAF. M11er I agree with you but humanitarian reason should be taken before you deport someone. In the case of these 20 people it does not apply (i dont think, at least) but the syrian deportation were anti regime protestors that were handed over to be tortured and killed (some at least. maybe not all)

Shouldn't the argument be that if you are going to expel someone, you should at least have good reason and inform that person of that reason?
