Aoun: We Will Twist Arm of U.S. Intelligence in Lebanon Like We Twisted Israel’s

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun announced on Saturday that Lebanon’s future will be stable, ruling out the eruption of a civil or sectarian war or Sunni-Shiite conflict in the country.

He said upon his arrival to the southern town of Mlita: “We will twist the arm of U.S. Intelligence in Lebanon like we twisted that of Israel.”

The MP arrived in the South at the head of a FPM delegation, where they were welcomed by the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad and a number of Hizbullah officials.

On Friday, Aoun hoped to Syria’s al-Dunia television that a new Lebanese government would be formed soon, adding that Syrian President Bashar Assad also hopes the same thing.

“He however cannot replace the Lebanese people’s role as he has his own problems to contend with,” he continued.

“Assad encourages the Lebanese to solve their own problems,” the MP stressed.

Asked about his recent meeting with Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati, Aoun replied: “No one tells that truth over the government formation process and they have been trying to pin problems on other sides.”

“I think that all internal excuses used to justify the delay have been exhausted,” he stressed.

“The ball is not in my court and I have solutions, not obstacles,” he stated.

Meanwhile, prominent FPM circles told al-Liwaa newspaper in remarks published on Saturday that they are content with the latest progress in the government formation process after Aoun presented concessions that should help facilitate and speed up the formation.

They added however that President Michel Suleiman should also “meet the rest of the parties halfway” through naming a sixth Maronite minister who will not provoke any of the concerned sides.

“Aoun is content with the course taken in the government formation, especially since the Telecommunications and Energy Ministries have been kept in the Change and Reform bloc’s possession,” the circles said.

Furthermore, they expected that a meeting will soon take place between Miqati and caretaker Energy Minister Jebran Bassil to place the finishing touches on the final Cabinet lineup.

Aoun insist on fighting an illusionary dragon while ignoring the monster in his back yard! Since when we are enemies of the US and friends with Iran.
What values do we share with the Iranian regime, repression or twisted sectarian extremism?
Those who are still following this destructive man should know that they are contributing to the Lebanese crisis. The changes are coming and those who are on the wrong side of history will pay.

Until when people will stop being NAIVE, wake up and smell the coffee.
You want to tell me the people who got Saddam and Bin Linden after many years and years can't get to anyone whenever they intend to?
Having an alliance such as the US is to the benefit of the Lebanese people, what happens after Libya and Yemen is done? You think the Iranian and Syrian regime will remain in power for ever?
Where do you think GMA the US new armed technology will be tested on?
Which is faster when it comes to destruction of the infrastructure and wiping people off the face of the earth the 250,000 rockets or the air cover that drops many tons of bombs based on your experience as a general?
so let's get real and embrace the non-terrorist regimes because a terrorist will always be a terrorist.

@RealityOfLife: you mention Saddam and Bin Laden, but you forget Viet Nam, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan today, and most of all South of Lebanon and lately March 14. The US has had more defeats than successes, so they are not really the best ally to have.

Default-user-icon Hala (Guest) 11 June 2011, 16:33

do the nay-sayers, an alliance with the US would need to happen on an equal footing. So far the US only sees you as the feuding natives that they can manipulate into a civil war, the loophole to colonization. You can only reach an alliance with them once you have educated them out of their divide and conquer reflex. GMA is doing just that. Once US grows out of colonial thinking, nothing prevents an alliance. Accepting to be manipulated by them into sectarian divides however is not called an alliance, it's called being a willing victim. GMA's school of thought, pro-citizenry Lebanese, are making Lebanon immune to sectarian manipulation.

Aoun isn't better or worse than Hariri, Geagea or Nasrallah... The whole lebanese political class is one virus that has one objectif: perpetuating itself at the expanse of the Lebanese people...
And here's to those who still support March 8 or March 14 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsD1kzZo-QM

Wake up and reject all these murderous clowns called Aoun Hariri Gegea Nasrallah Jumblatt Berry Frangieh Gemayel... KILL THEM ALL (politically at least)

Le Fini I believe you are correct Patriarch Rahi and Aoun share the same view that Aoun's a tool. And while on the subject of sharing the same points of view it looks like Erdogan, Sarkozi and Pope Benedict all agree that Assad is a murderous bastard committing massacres against his own people like his dad used to against the Lebanese.

I am really amazed at the logic of Aoun. He's like Jumblat with double faces. The only think this guy was able to do is destroy what's left of the Christian faith that the Lebanese have. He's scaring Chrostians out of Lebanon. He's also put all his relatives in the canbinet and has made his party a family concern. I don't blame him. I blame the christian people whose minds are so small to support such a person. It's a shame to see such a distructive person amongst us.

mmmmmmmmmm. I wonder if Aouns wife gonna have a yellow or orange Burka. The guy took his tie off like the Iranians. What a looooooooooooooooooser. He wants to what? The US? Either he is a good actor or his screws are way out of balance . Look at kaddafi . the poor thing he hasnt slept for months hiding in tents . hospitals and even hotels where the media is camping. He better start planning where he is gonna hide soon.
I wonder if his followers know that the guy needs asfourieh.

Christians are dwindling by the hour in lebanon and this Aoun thing is the main reason for this. This guy is really irrational and full of bullshit. If he were in the west he would not even be given a job of a porter. He IQ is so tiny and his bald son in law who is one meter tall is dragging the Christians out of this country. One think I do hope will happen: for him to have a heart attack (which he will) as he have heart problem and let's really be in peace. Then and only then this small guy of his the son in law will go to the corner where he's supposed to be. It happened before with the son of Lahoud who could bearly speak. Good riddence and soon.

But while criticising Aoun, this doesn't mean I appreciate hariri, beri, and all the gangs who have been milking Lebanon for ages. They should all go and the people should take over based on quality not who you know.

@Bigdigg, Learn from your past mistakes, when the US(BIG DADDY) allowed the Syrian regime to take over the BaaBda Palace from Aoun and flew over Lebanon with their Air Jets during that operation, the assumption was that you get the point and message and Unify your followers behind a single unified leadership if you choose the church Sfeir back then, but what do we do instead? act as a Chameleon and change color day in and day out and choose the "divide and conquer" concept. You mention Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, we hit the terrorists anytime/anywhere, change the regime which is more than enough if you think that we lost, so that the normal citizens can survive and have a decent life and future. In the old days back in1980s the mossad in west Beirut were roaming, Hezbollah and the Palestinians back then never noticed them and wondered how the Israeli Jets found their targets so accurately and easily arrived in Beirut, today we have Satellites/tech Not Spies, dig and we will find you

Missing elielebnan 12 June 2011, 05:07

Aoun ... you do not represent the Christians, do not speak on our behalf. The Christian youths have nothing to do with your personal wars and ambitions of a presidential seat!! shame on you, each time we think we are taking one step forward, you take us ten steps backwards....Christians have nothing in common with Syria's Baath and Iran's Mullahs...

Default-user-icon Toufic (Guest) 12 June 2011, 05:14

I love Aoun's "We" as if he has anything to do with anything. Besides when he actually had a whole army ready to sacrifice everything at his command he ran away . Now all he does is hide under Hassan's dress and God knows what else he's doing down there.
