Mustaqbal: Vengeful Practices by New Govt. Will Be Met with Unwavering Resistance

The Mustaqbal bloc warned the new government on Tuesday against adopting vengeful and spiteful practices, adding that Prime Minister Najib Miqati wasted an opportunity to form a government of independent figures.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “A Cabinet of independent figures would have led the country towards dialogue, instead he chose to serve Hizbullah’s arms, succumbing to its ‘black shirts policy’.”

“After a 140-day delay, a one-sided government was formed, which could have been established a week after Miqati’s appointment, but it seems that those in power were waiting for the appropriate moment for permission to form it,” it continued.

“The new government is a product of a mission to confront the other and eliminate it on the local scene, and confront the other on the regional and international scenes,” the statement noted.

The Mustaqbal bloc predicted that the new government will not abide by Lebanon’s Arab and international commitments.

“It adopted a unilateral political approach therefore making it a March 8 and Hizbullah Cabinet that will go against the developments in the Arab world and Miqati’s commitments to national principles,” it added.

The bloc announced that it will take the position of a “responsible democratic opposition in order to protect Lebanon, its constitution and citizens.”

“The bloc would like to remind the new government that the Lebanese greatly value their coexistence and general and personal freedoms,” it said.

“Passed experiences with totalitarian parties have taught us that their coups begin with the presentation of seemingly independent figures who will eventually suppress society through oppression and persecution,” the statement continued.

“The danger of this plague spreading to Lebanon has now more than ever become a serious possibility under this new government,” it warned.

“Any vengeful and spiteful practices on its part will be met with unwavering resistance,” it stressed.

instead of looking the white smock what "supposed" appeared yesterday after cabinet was formed, at next day, what is listened, between citizen spirits, is the "DROOMS SOUNDS" as signal to be ready to confront, if this was the real intention it, for making internal divitions more deep and creating confrotation BETWEEN LEBANESE, the result will be looked soon,

I am really soryy to see that Lebanon is going backwards daily. It has turned into a tribal jungle. There is fear that lebanon will turn into a totalitarian regime with one party perpetually governing this small country. The first step was attacking Jumblat and taming him to change from the march 14 to 8 and now that they have created a government the turn will be on march 14. Once march 14 is eliminated, the field will be clear for iran and syria to swollow it totally in one bite. Then, we will be like regimes without freedom and say.

Yes sure, as if these guys did not hold on to power alone for the last five years (and ruined the country in the process). Now that they have been booted out, they want an "Independent" government! Why did they not form such a government when THEY had the opportunity?

Guys...really stop supporting any of the two sides!!!! March 14 and March 8 are both shit!!! What have they done for Lebanon besides dividing it and making us fight each other?! They treat us like their dummies and we follow them like sheep!!!
We owe them nothing...They owe us everything!

First, give us back our money that you stole since the days of Rafic Efendi through the days of his retarded son Saad, and then everyone will be on your side, I promise you this.

G.aswad. It's these comments and statements from mustaqbul that helps push people towards Syria and Iran simply becoz they want to be the opposite of this childish, sectarian fueled hate and fear mongers. Perhaps if they were to disappear as you say, it might help to bring some of the Lebanese population back to the middle ground. However, I don't share your pessimism, that the cabinet is highjacked or controlled by any foreign country. let's give them a chance and see how they perform. Surly they can't be worse then what we've had in the past and if miqati can spend more time in Lebanon then spent in riyaddh or Europe like hariri did then they are already half way there.
