Raad: Qusayr Martyrs Defending Lebanon against Same Zionist Plot that Targeted South

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

MP Mohammed Raad, head of Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, stressed Sunday that Hizbullah is fighting in Syria's Qusayr against the same “Zionist plot” it had confronted in southern Lebanon.

“It is important to realize the importance of martyrs during this period, so that some people don't confuse things and think that the rifle of the resistance has changed its aim … as the martyrs that are falling nowadays on the frontier of Qusayr and its countryside, and in defense of Sayyeda Zainab and its holy shrine, are defending Lebanon and the Arab and Islamic world against the same Zionist plot that targeted Lebanon through its southern frontier,” Raad said.

“The current events are two faces of the same plot under the auspices of the United States, which is sponsoring terrorism whether it is Zionist terrorism or claiming to be religious,” Raad added in a speech at a memorial service marking one week since the death of Hizbullah fighter Abdullah Khalil, who was killed in Syria.

The Hizbullah official accused the jihadist groups fighting in Syria of “killing and displacing people, ruining countries and state institutions and besieging the Ummah's sources of strength and dignity, as part of an agenda that reeks of oil.”

The military support of Hizbullah has helped Syrian regime forces gain the upper hand in the battle for control of Qusayr, a key town for both the regime and the insurgents, where an army assault began on May 19.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had previously justified the group's involvement in Syria by saying they were defending Lebanese-inhabited border villages inside Syria and Shiite holy sites.

But the offensive on the mostly-Sunni town of Qusayr forced the movement to change its argument.

"Syria is the rear guard of the resistance (Hizbullah's fight with Israel), its backbone, and the resistance cannot stay with its arms folded when its rear guard is exposed," Nasrallah said last month in a speech for the 13th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

"We are idiots if we do not act," he added.

Nasrallah stressed that Hizbullah will win the battle against the “United States, Israel and the Takfiris just like it emerged victorious in previous wars.”

The Hizb fighters are dying to protect one of the most repressive and criminal regimes in the world by order from the Mullahs of Iran. The overwhelming majority of opposition fighters in Al-Qusayr are not Takfiries. They belong to the Free Syrian Army. The biggest Takfiri is Nasrallah that has accused those fighting against this bloody regime as Takfiris and is sending his troops against people fighting for their liberty.

These guys have placed themselves in a lose-lose situation. Even if what they are saying is true, their story will be very hard to sell within Lebanon and the Arab/Islamic worlds. They have found themselves in a position where any decision they make will result in a loss. If they stay idle, they lose a strong ally in Syria and they find themselves "trapped" like a small island in a huge Sunni ocean that can only further strengthen the extremist Sunnis in Lebanon. On the other hand, if they take action, they lose whatever reputation they still maintained and they risk getting the whole Islamic world rallied against them.
If only they had the decency to treat their Lebanese brethren not as sheep but as true partners and if they only had the foresight to maintain strong inter-Lebanese relations even if they had to make some concessions. Granted, they may still have opted to join the war in Syria but they would have had a third option that is not available for them now. Such a shame.

Does anybody really believe that if the Zionists (Israel) were involved in the fighting in Syria that the civil war would have been going on for two years. It may have taken anything up to two weeks, not longer.

Thumb primesuspect 02 June 2013, 19:10

Bashar is the Zionist.... But you're right, with Israel directly involved it would have been over in weeks

Thumb primesuspect 02 June 2013, 19:08

So true

Thumb beiruti 02 June 2013, 19:24

Only the very ignorant or those who will believe anything to justify themselves will buy this crap off of Raad.
Hezbollah cannot claim, at the same time, that it is fighting against takfiri, (which is a reference to a Sunni Muslim who looks at the world in black-and-white; there are true believers and then there are nonbelievers, with no shades in between. A takfiri's mission is to re-create the Caliphate according to a literal interpretation of the Koran)AND an Israeli/US conspiracy. So no, Israel and the US are in the business of teaming with Sunni Fundamentalists who want to upend KSA?? It is pure nonsense.

Thumb beiruti 02 June 2013, 19:25

Or maybe this Raad guy thinks that the US is the mother of all co-conspirators and that the US conspires with Israel on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and then on Tuesdays and Thursdays conspires with the Sunni Fundamentalists. Maybe that is it.

Thumb beiruti 02 June 2013, 19:25

Thumb beiruti 02 June 2013, 19:29

What this guy needs is a dose of reality. Here is the reality:
1. The Israelis see Obama as the least friendly US President since Jimmy Carter, who called what Israel does in the West Bank Aparteid Governance.
2. The US has found its own oil and gas through fracking which makes the US, not KSA the country with the biggest reserves, we really don't need your oil anymore.
3. Obama is taking a political beating in the US because we are not involved in Syria, not because we are.
4. Hezbollah and Israel have a traditional common ally and patron, namely, Iran. All are religious and ethnic minorities who have as their common strategic regional foe, the majority Arab Sunni.
5. Raad, like all Hezbollah is trying to justify himself and his party's actions by blaming Israel and the US, when the fact is that the biggest aid to Assad to date has been the fact that the US and Israel have not become involved on the side of the Syrian Opposition.

Missing samiam 02 June 2013, 21:26

Meet Hezbollah: A milicia specialized in the import and export of wars. After the successful project to create a war with Israel in 2006, Hezbollah is attacking a new market, Syria, focusing specifically on the niche of Ksair where it intends to make a foothold and keep a presence. It also is specializing in import as it succeeded to import war and clashes to the great city of baalbeck.

After 15 years of war (1975-1990), and then 15 years of brutal total occupation (1990-2005), the Lebanese finally came out of war and occupation in revulsion against the murders of 2005.
Only Hezbollah kept the war and occupation agenda to stay relevant. Aoun sold out his own movement to make the Hezbollah agenda remain viable in Lebanon, in the wake of the end of the Syrian occupation.
Now, Hezbollah has turned the clock back on Lebanon. Democracy,, trying to return to Lebanon was killed last week, a victim. Elections suspended like in 1975. Lebanon has been set back by 40 years by this group, Raad, Hezbollah and their enablers, the Aoun's.
