Suleiman Rebukes March 14, but Opposition Warns him Not to Take Sides

President Michel Suleiman has blamed March 14 politicians over allegedly ending their support to him while the new opposition advised him to become neutral or face the consequences of its campaign against the new government.

An Nahar daily said Sunday that both sides have blamed each other through common friends. Suleiman believes that March 14 stopped supporting him when it decided to boycott the cabinet.

He allegedly believes that the coalition prevented some of its members to participate in Najib Miqati’s government to consolidate the centrist bloc that includes the ministers backed by Suleiman, Miqati and MP Walid Jumblat.

The president also reprimanded March 14 for launching an attack on the new cabinet before taking its official commemorative photo at Baabda’s doorsteps.

But the new opposition’s politicians told Suleiman through their common friends that the defense of the cabinet as ‘made in Lebanon’ should have been left for Miqati.

Last week, Suleiman said that the government was 100 percent Lebanese and was not formed through a Syrian green light.

The politicians confirmed that they would continue their campaign against the cabinet and mainly Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun and Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

They warned that Suleiman would suffer from the consequences of this campaign if he takes sides, An Nahar said, adding that the March 14 officials advised the president to become neutral.

The French proverb says ; Les chiens aboient et la caravane passe .

GMA and Sayed Nasrallah are on the Caravane , while the others are on the trottoir barking ..

GMA is in power till next elections 2013 . He is the strong man of this government , with 12 ministers on 30 for himself !!! This is the first time since TAEF , that the Christians are strongly represented in the council of ministers .

No more Christians on Hariri pay-roll in any government in Lebanon from now on ! Hariri himself has put an end to his political career . He will never come back to Lebanon .

Time for Audit and accounts of the last 20 years has come .. so be very careful with your warnings ..!!

Thumb ado.australia 19 June 2011, 10:45

He was not to defend his cabinet by saying it was "made in Lebanon"? Good God, they have lost the plot.

Le phenicien,
you say that, and GMA calls himself not a sectarian leader?
IMHO he was better in 1990 when he stood up for values, and refused intervention, and didn't drown in sectarianism.

Don't let your hate for a person (Hariri), derail you from the values you should've been believing in.

Le Phenicien,

Can you tell where you get your drugs from ? Or is it a special delivery from the sewers of Dahyeh ?

Seriously though try not to post under the influence, and maybe you'd ridicule yourself a little less.

Well it's amazing that the person accusing Le Phenicien of being under the influence of drugs, calls himself "motfeh"...

some politicians should start to learn how other politicians do their jobs in a way that they always save their ass & get out from most situations clean & hard luck for the ones who post themselves "bi booz el madfa3"

The jealousy of M14 has reached a new low. What is the president supposed to do? His job is to help the newly appointed Prime Minister and form a government that serves the country. Five months of bickering and political vacuum is enough! Let this government do their jobs and see what they can do, is the Hariri clan affraid that they will succeed? Hoping for Miqati to fail is wrong and unacceptable. Shame on mustaqbal.

Yes phenicien he gave christians back their rights, by giving them Jean Abboud , an SSNP scumbag, Gebran Bassil, not even elected in Batroun , Charbel Nahhas, a communist , even vetoed from Miqati personnally to take over the telecommunications again ( i wonder why , maybe finally it was Nahhas's fault what happened at Ogero ), and the rest are unpopular figures , he didnt do anything but make it worse, christians always had anyway half of the ministers for them, nothing has changed, exept what i have mentionned above, and of course, thanks to GMA, we have now Ali Qanso, such a clean figure, Faisal Karami, nephew of sushi PM Rashid Karami, who was blown in pieces for his treachury of dividing the army and supporting wahhabi palestinian PLO and Syrian army in the civil war.

- GMA HAS NO POWER, not him , not Hariri, not ANYBODY as long as Hezbollah have weapons whether they have one minister or none, they are the ruling party. sad, but true, and thanks to GMA they are now legal.

@ Le phenicien; you r right GMA has all these ministers, but don't you find it weird the all hizbullah only has so few ministers and that Nabih Berri was nice enough to give up a seat to save the country? That because yes the Shiites now rule Lebanon but from a global plan it can't be seen this way so they give all the seats to their puppets as window dressing... But we all know who is holding the strings. So you are right GMA is a puppet like all the orange party at the moment. If I were you I won't be so proud to have so many ministers but would have rather had a better split between sects
