Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad visited President Michel Suleiman on Tuesday, the first such meeting between the two sides after the head of state's criticism of the party's involvement in the fighting in Syria.

The meeting lasted 45 minutes and Raad left the presidential palace without making any statement.

As Safir newspaper quoted Baabda palace sources as saying that Suleiman would stress to Raad, who is the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, the importance of abiding by the Baabda Declaration and the official policy of self-dissociation.

He would also urge Hizbullah to pull its fighters out of Syria, the sources said.

Suleiman has recently issued several statements criticizing the party's role in Syria.

Hizbullah has been fundamental in the fighting in the Syrian town of Qusayr. Its fighters openly spearheaded a 17-day assault which culminated with Qusayr's recapture from the rebels last Wednesday.

criminals go to the presidential palace not jail! yesterday they killed Salman! The most lying and criminal party is Hizbo. its a cancer to the Lebanese body! hope the surgery goes well so Lebanon can continue living!

Thumb dasphinx 11 June 2013, 09:41

Hizbullah has been shoved in the war on behalf of Iran because Iran fears added economic sanctions that will further deteriorate its economy. The Farsi MFers are sacrificing Lebanon so they don't get spanked. Hizbullah is a tool!

ya cent, your argument would have a little more credibility if you criticize (attack) both camps but your hate for Sunnis is so obvious and your argument is just getting too old and lamping ALL Sunnis as Takfiris, salafists etc is hysterical on your part...The vast majority are not but that majority hate your Assad and your Iranian puppet Nousrala...long live Lebanon..and YES Lebanon not Hizbala, not Iran nor KSA...

HA has akready announced that after clearing up sites that lauch mortars and missiles into Lebanon they will be ramping down operations ...

The sting of a string of defeats has the opposition and the US-GCC cabal howling mad and they are turning up the hate speech and war mongering.

Missing samiam 11 June 2013, 10:57

they announced that they 'suspended' operations--which doesn't mean that they are 'ramping down operations' as you claim. anyhow, they haven't said anything truthful lately so frankly, their words aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Missing peace 11 June 2013, 11:43

will they also prevent the syrian army to launch missiles into lebanon? LOL!

Thumb mckinl 11 June 2013, 14:09

I said "ramp down" operations phoenix. We shall see what HA does. My guess is that once they take care of the opposition that's shelling Hermel and Baalbeck they will "ramp down". Stalin organs will be of little use with nobody to fire them.

Thumb mckinl 11 June 2013, 14:18

@ the1phoenix

Indeed there are plenty of Muslim radicals ... the question is where will they enter and get supplies? Lebanon is increasingly shut down and Turkey and Jordan have huge domestic problems with unrest.

Iraq is increasingly involved in guarding its border and you will notice that Syria's FM was just there to discuss their problem with Qaeda now merged between Syria and Iraq.

The US/NATO could intervene but they would be breaking International Law and violating UN resolutions and that would enrage Iran, Russia and China. That could be a regional war even WWIII.

You are correct ... there is much to play out but the victories by Assad's forces assure Assad at least a stalemate. Assad is going no where.

Thumb geha 11 June 2013, 10:43

hizbushaitan did not withdraw from Syria, rather they are continuing on their killing spree in Syria currently in Halab.

Thumb mckinl 11 June 2013, 11:07

HA is in Halab to disable sites used to fire missiles at Lebanon ... And they said they are ramping down operations.

What's the matter geha? ... HA is doing what you wanted ...good news got you down?

Missing samiam 11 June 2013, 11:20

and how about the missles that the syrian army has been lobbing at lebanon--any word of those.

seriously dude, you are a perfect minion and unquestioningly believe everything that your masters tell you. i guess you really like your scooby snacks.

Missing peace 11 June 2013, 11:44

missiles from halab? LOL!!! brainwashing at its best....

Thumb geha 11 June 2013, 11:52

and you expect us to believe anything these baby killers says?
these are thugs and murderers as they proved it so many times not later than 2 days ago by assassinating a guy in front of the army elements.

Missing samiam 11 June 2013, 15:11

so ft, when israel starts bombing hizb iran's positions, they have the same rights as what the syrians are doing

don't you see that you are swimming in a sea of hypocrisy....you justify one wrong action and condemn another--can't you just say both are wrong?

Thumb geha 11 June 2013, 11:05

I would like to know what happened to the samaha case, and why it is still on hold?

Thumb jcamerican 11 June 2013, 12:00

They might have to release him, if Bashar stayed in power.

Missing peace 11 June 2013, 14:15

could you also justify the killings of women, old people and children and hundreds of innocent syrians by assad ? only salafis are terrorizing syrians?
i am awaiting your answer :)

Thumb geha 11 June 2013, 14:37

peace don't bother: this guy is here to insult others nothing of substance in his comments.
the assad regime has been breeding extremists of all kinds, sending some here to Lebanon, and we all saw what they did.
we will never forget what this regime did here in Lebanon, and especially the samaha attempts.
we will never forget all the murders, rapes,.... this regime has done.
so we all know what this regime is about, let us not be bothered with this stupid guy insulting everyone.

Thumb beiruti 11 June 2013, 15:18

If Sulieman had any balls, as soon as Raad entered the Palace at Baabda, he'd have Raad arrested for treason. "Loyalty to the Resistance" party, indeed. The SOB sure as hell is not loyal to Lebanon and now we have clear evidence that the so called Resistance to which Raad is Loyal is a party of traitors who know loyalty only to their Imam in Tehran, his banker and his arms dealers.

Thumb thepatriot 11 June 2013, 15:19

yeah... like hama...right!?
