Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour and Taymour Jumblat are likely to travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday to meet with the head of the Saudi intelligence and ex-Premier Saad Hariri, a well-informed official said Saturday.

The official told As Safir daily that the meeting of Abu Faour and Jumblat with Prince Bandar bin Sultan and Hariri, who is also the head of al-Mustaqbal movement, would come amid a new proposal to give the March 14 alliance eight ministers in the new cabinet along with a ninth minister, who would also be part of the share of centrists.

Hariri is part of the March 14 coalition while Abu Faour is loyal to Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblat who is a centrist.

The centrist bloc in the government includes ministers loyal to the president and the prime minister.

The official, who was not identified, said Jean Obeid could be the person representing both March 14 and the centrists in Premier-designate Tammam Salam's government.

The source added that the form and shape of the new cabinet would only be known after the visit of Abu Faour and Taymour Jumblat, who is Walid's son, to Saudi Arabia.

While the source did not provide details on Hizbullah and the March 8 alliance which insist on getting veto power in the cabinet, he said there were positive signs from the Gulf countries and the international community that there was no veto on granting Hizbullah portfolios.

The party has been widely criticized by the March 14 alliance and by countries backing the revolution against Syrian President Bashar Assad for its involvement in Syria's war.

Hizbullah fighters are among those backing Assad's armed forces.

Reading this disgraces me to even say I'm Lebanese. It's people liek these two who have a need to travel to Saudi Arabia meet with Arab authorities from the intelligence apparatus before they can make a decision on Lebanese Political affairs. Ehh tfeee. & 100x tfeee on teh Lebanese who elect their affiliates in Parliament. These people have no shame so there is no point in saying they should be ashamed of themselves.

Jumblatt and sons, Aoun's and sons in law, Berri and sons, .... Nepotism, dynasties, cronyism, corruption..... Are the norm in the not so holy Lebanon. What a shame.

How many times have Aoun's "sons" visited Iran or other contries for advise or permission? Nepotism is disgraceful in Lebanese politics but there is a difference between relations in politics and an envoy of submission and asking for permission! A joke of a republic when prominent politians openly sell their souls to foreigners! No difference than 1975. Again the true republican Lebanese are unfortunately from the same 2 minority sects! sectarianism is evil! Lebanon republic first and public, religion and belief is personal!

Wolf the brainless/brain dead. Go watch Arwa Damon : Syria uncovered. You'll see what happens to the poor girls. You'll learn a lot.... And that's exactly what you should do before opening your mouth.

Your only defense of your backward culture and Hezb is to link M14 with Cannibals ...... it shows how bankrupt you are.

wolf .......... lets stick to facts just this once and see where it takes us
True Saudis bought much of Lebanon (breaking existing laws)
Also TRUE HA bought lots of land using Iranian money with the strategic thinking of controlling Lebanon and making it base for the Political power of the Mullahs.
So the difference is Iran is executing its plan using Lebanese Shia who are brainwashed to have highest loyalty to their Sect (labayka ya Nassrallah, Labayka ya Khameni mentality).
As a true Lebanese, I want to see both practices end with the militant force going first (ie. HA)

I am really sick and tired how in Lebanon, by default, the son of the current leader becomes the next in line. Who says that if your good at something that your son will also be good at it. As if Lebanon has ran out of people who can run this country,we keep on bringing the same families to rule is over and over again.

Thumb lebanon_first 22 June 2013, 21:37

didnt this happen in the US?
And bring Bush jr, the worst president of modern history...

Thumb irus_da_virus 22 June 2013, 22:03

It did, and the outcome reinforces my point, it was a disaster. But in Lebanon it happens too much. Look at the "leaders" who are grooming their sons, you have jumblat, franjieh, mekkari to name a few.i don't understand how an entire nation that prides itself as having one of the most intelligent end educated countrymen is capable of producing such collective stupidity by having us Lebanese vote over and over again for the same people who have failed Lebanon in all areas of governance.

FT - what is your point? Lebanon has two choices: jump in iran bed and have a civil war or become neutral. KSA wants Lebanon to be neutral in what is going in Syria. If the Hizb refuses, then the government must disavow what the Hizb is doing and deem it illegal in the same fashion that it deems armed groups assisting the revolutionaries as illegal. Lebanese must choose where their interests are. KSA, the Gulf and the western world versus the mullah of iran.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 22 June 2013, 21:36

We must seek neutrality and protect that neutrality. If KSA and Iran are unable or unwilling to arrive at a formula, the region is going to hell. The best Lebanon can do to protect itself (and protect the last significant christian population in the levant) is to become neutral and to build a strong state, with strong army and strong institution. Most of the keys are in the Hizb (and their backers) hand. They can make the state or break it.

Wolf I will never thank M 8 & the same goes for M 14,regarding my breed it is pure Lebanese.
Please don't talk to me about the Jews or the Palistinians .I think you are too young to understand this conflict, did you know the same country backing M8 meaning Iran ,during the war with Iraq all their weapons were Israeli made ,don't talk to me about what M8 stands for.
