Connelly Meets Aoun: EU Decision against Hizbullah Shows Party Cannot Act with Impunity

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly hailed on Tuesday the European Union's decision to blacklist Hizbullah's military wing as a terrorist organization.

She said after holding talks with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun: “The decision sends a strong message that the party cannot operate with impunity and there are consequences for its actions, such as the Burgas bombing and its terrorist plot in Cyprus.”

The ambassador and MP discussed the political and security situation in Lebanon, as well as other regional issues.

She said that government formation is a Lebanese process and that the Lebanese people deserve a government that reflects their aspirations and strengthens Lebanon's stability, sovereignty, and independence while fulfilling its international obligations.

She noted the U.S. hoped to see a formation of a government with which the United States would be able to work more closely.

Moreover, Connelly regretted the failure of some parties to respect the Baabda Declaration and noted that interference in Syria by those parties endanger Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability, and security.

Mrs. Conelli:
you are saying these remarks at the door of the main supporter of this Iranian terrorist militia!
you think he cares?
he only cares for his end of month paycheck from the Iranian embassy.
he is the Judas of the Christians in Lebanon.

Patriotic-Lebanese, your ability to understand politics is questionable. Is attractiveness a quality you require of your leaders? Why would your general be afraid of a diplomat? Is this the type of diplomacy you promote? Fear before reason, beauty before skill? That is surely a very sad and hopeless position for Lebanon. Your patriotism and love of beauty has blinded you to the realities of diplomacy.
the-roar, you believe the Americans would consider changing their position if given larger portion. Are you really so lacking in the ability to analyze political activity aside from how attractive the players are and the amount of hummus they are offered?
Sad, sad people. I pity you. Surely you can find something to say about the political position of US that doesn't include childish name-calling and verbal degradation.
Naharnet, it's a pity to see that you admit this type of unproductive conversation to take place here at all. I thought your journalistic standards to be much higher.

Patriotic-Lebanese, there is NOTHING more unattractive than your blatant shallowness and hate-mongering commentary.

If you just remove the word unattractive, your comment would be more appealing!
