Three Syrian nationals were kidnapped on Tuesday in the eastern mountain belt on the border between Lebanon and Syria in retaliation to the abduction of two residents of the Bekaa town of Brital last week.

"Bilal Khallouf and Mohammed Omar from Assal al-Ward town and Mohammed Shaddad from the village of al-Nabak were intercepted and kidnapped by a group of people who blocked the roads of the eastern mountain belt,” the state-run National News Agency reported.

The NNA elaborated: “The three men were kidnapped in retaliation to the abduction of Ali Abbas Ismael and Hasan Abbas Ismael who hail from Brital and their Syrian brother-in-law Saleh Boutros who was freed last week.”

On Saturday, the NNA said that Free Syrian Army members kidnapped two people who hail for the Ain al-Qarqouz town in the Brital plains.

The same source remarked that a third person, Ibrahim Hikmat Ismael, was injured during the incident and was able to escape.

"He headed towards Lebanese territories and reported the kidnapping of his brother Hasan Ismael and his brother-in-law Saleh Kurdieh who got injured in the foot."
