President Michel Suleiman and Premier Najib Miqati held talks at Baabda palace on Monday to agree on a replacement for Talal Arslan, who has announced his resignation from the new cabinet.

Media reports said a presidential decree is expected to be issued soon naming Marwan Kheireddine as the new minister of state without portfolio.

Kheireddine is Arslan’s brother-in-law.

Arslan resigned on June 13 hours after Miqati’s government was formed to protest the ministry of state allotted to him. The Lebanese Democratic Party leader was asking for a portfolio.

Mikati should be slapped with strict financial sanctions inside & out of Lebanon.
This guy cannot lead Lebanon and all Lebanese to confront the UN & dump us all in an Ayatolla's lawless environment.
He must be punished now.
