Plumbly Warns Hizbullah of Dangers of Rejecting Baabda Declaration

United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly highlighted the importance of the Baabda Declaration that calls for disassociating Lebanon from regional conflicts, reported the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat on Sunday.

He told the daily that he had recently warned Hizbullah leaders of the danger of rejecting the agreement.

The United Nations urges all countries to back the declaration because it embodies the wisest policy Lebanon can adopt, he explained.

Addressing the U.N. General Assembly and the meeting of an international support group for Lebanon, Plumbly remarked that the meeting demonstrates the international community's unity over supporting Lebanon's stability and institutions, especially the army.

He predicted that the international support group's role will not be limited to the General Assembly, saying that he expects its support to continue after next week's gathering.

Moreover, he lamented the failure of the Lebanese political powers to form a new government because the existence of a cabinet would have facilitated international efforts to support the country.

The meeting of the international support group for Lebanon is aimed at helping the country cope with the flow of Syrian refugees into the country.

It is scheduled to be held on Wednesday under President Michel Suleiman's chairmanship.

He traveled to New York on Sunday to attend the General Assembly.

Good luck on trying to achieve the impossible. Hezbollah cares nothing about Lebanon. Only their party, their sheep and their power. Their flag is not Lebanese. And I'm still waiting on an explanation for what they are resisting. Don't give me BS and say Israel.

When I was about 6 years old I realised that it was useless talking to a stone wall, Plumbly should have learned by now.

Nothing will make Hezbollah budge ya plumbly except fresh instructions from Iran.
They dont care that moderate Europe has named them a terrorist organization.
They dont care that arab governments are calling them terrorists.
They dont care that arab people cant stand their guts anymore.
They dont care that most syrians hate them for interfering in their ousting the assadists.
They dont care that most lebanese are afraid of them and their weapons, and even their allies are with them only because they are the strongest
They dont care that Lebanon's economy is going down the drain because of their vision that government has to be a miniparliament.
All they care about is their stupid 1Billion dollar they get from criminal iran every year and the instruction sheet that comes with it on how to spend it.- IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT IS GOOD FOR LEBANON.

Iran is a lecherous and sneaky country. The only way we will have peace of mind is if Obama bombs them back into the stone age, I am ashamed that as a Lebanese, some of my people bow down to those corrupt and medieval Shiite clerics in Tehran. What a cancerous scourge and what a curse-- Iran needs to be neutralized and infortunately Obama won't do it..

What are you talking about, "their stupid 1 Billion dollar they get from criminal Iran every year"? It's Lebanese billions that are going from our country to Iran every year since Iran has been suffocating under sanctions. To Iran and now to Syria - Baschar's side of Syria.

Shias are the majority of Lebanese, so Hezbullah speaks for the majority.

Yes, but in true democracy there has to be checks and balances. Otherwise you are referring to "Kol mean idou ellou" Middle Eastern yahoos style. Yeh right, and this how you guys have been governing/leading a country into hellhole. What a shame.

I remember last elections everyone was saying that M8 was going to take a Majority but Guess what? not only did they NOT get their expected election results but they even LOST one seat ... LOL... i was so happy... the Shia are NOT the Majority... I don't believe it.
So a few years later a soft COUP took place...
Well... you don't have to agree with me but I would love to have another election to prove my point... Hizbshitan M8 Will be erased in parliament this time around because not even the Shia will vote for them but alot of brain washed fools...
Oh don't worry Im not an M14 supporter ... I was ... but IM FREE AND INDEPENDENT (i.e. NOT brain WASHED) so i don't now who I'll vote for, but will need to see...

he's talking about LEBANON. I don't hear him talking about the censorship and savagery in IRAN. Why don't you bring that up as well as its involvement in the killing of 120K people. Stop bringing up excuses on how they are 'protecting' lebanon from jihadists and zionists--truth is they are inviting them here. Look at Irag.

Tools--can't build with them and can't build a house of cards without them.
