Dutch FM Advises EU Talks with Lebanon over Refugee Crisis

Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders has said the only way to halt the flow of migrants pouring into Europe is to end the war in Syria, advising the European Union to hold talks with Lebanese officials.

Koenders, who visited a refugee camp in the eastern Bekaa Valley on Tuesday, said: "It is not only a question of border controls and quotas. If the war in Syria does not end, people will keep coming."

Hawaii Man Bit by Shark Swims to Shore, Posts Video Online

A Hawaii spear fisherman who was bit in the leg by a tiger shark off the coast of the Big Island swam to shore and then filmed a video of his deep wound as he was being carried away on a gurney.

"I just got attacked by a tiger shark," an exasperated Braxton Rocha, 27, of Kapaau, Hawaii, said in the shaky video posted to Instagram. The footage pans down the man's body to a gaping gash in the middle of his left leg.

Salam in UAE, Pays Condolences to Dubai Ruler

Prime Minister Tammam Salam traveled on Sunday to the United Arab Emirates where he paid condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Ruler of Dubai over the death of his eldest son.

U.S. Says VW Intentionally Violates Clean Air Standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Friday that Volkswagen intentionally skirted clean air laws by using a piece of software that enabled about 500,000 of its diesel cars to emit fewer smog-causing pollutants during testing than in real-world driving conditions.

The agency ordered VW to fix the cars at its own expense. The German automaker also faces billions of dollars in fines, although exact amounts were not determined.
