The suspected killer of a policeman was arrested during a raid on his house west of the eastern city of Baalbek, the Internal Security Forces announced on Wednesday.

The suspect, Mohammed Shamas, is wanted for his involvement in the killing of an officer, ISF said, without giving details on where and when he committed the murder.

Kidnappers Release Iraqi but Abduct His Relative over Ransom Dispute

A kidnapped Iraqi businessman has been released but his captors abducted his relative after he failed to pay the ransom in full, the state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday.

Wael al-Jabouri was set free near the town of Hawsh al-Nabi in the eastern Baalbek district after his relative paid the abductors $50,000, NNA said.

George Kahmazian Released after Payment of Ransom

Lebanese citizen George Kahmazian, who was abducted in Baalbek on Thursday, has been released after the payment of a ransom to his kidnappers, the state-run National News Agency said.

NNA said Kahmazian was set free at dawn Friday after the abductors were paid a 12,000 dollar ransom.

A man was kidnapped Thursday from his Cherokee Laredo in the Baalbek region, according to state-run National News Agency.

“Gunmen in a yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser and a white Grand Cherokee kidnapped Lebanese citizen George Kahmazian after intercepting his gray Cherokee Laredo near the Dar al-Ajaza al-Islamia center in the Baalbek region town of Shlifa,” NNA said.

The Lebanese army said on Tuesday that it has arrested two suspects and seized weapons and ammunition from them in the area of Hrabta near the eastern city of Baalbek.

An army unit apprehended on Monday Hassan Ahmed al-Meqdad and Hassan Ali al-Meqdad, who is wanted on an arrest warrant for involvement in a shooting, the military said in a communique.
