Victoria's Secret to Probe Child Labor Claims

U.S. lingerie maker Victoria's Secret on Thursday vowed to investigate claims that some of its fair-trade underwear is produced using child labor.

In a statement Victoria's Secret's parent company said it was "very concerned" that fair-trade-certified cotton used in its panties could have been farmed using under-aged labor in Burkina Faso.

Unpublished Bronte Manuscript Sells for $1 Million

An unpublished manuscript by a 14-year-old Charlotte Bronte, who went on to write "Jane Eyre", sold at auction in London on Thursday for a record £690,850 ($1,069,000, 822,900 euros).

Sotheby's auction house said the sale, at more than double the guide price, was the highest ever price at auction for any literary work by Charlotte Bronte or her two famous sisters, Emily and Anne.

'The Artist' Speaks up with 6 Noms to Lead Globes

Silent film is taking over Hollywood's awards scene. The silent-era tale "The Artist" heads the Golden Globes with six nominations, among them best comedy or musical, and acting honors for its French stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.

Tied for second-place with five nominations Thursday are the 1960s racial tale "The Help" and George Clooney's Hawaiian family story "The Descendants." Both films are up for best drama, while Clooney was nominated for best dramatic actor and "The Help" earned acting slots for Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain.

Dubai to Open Famed Liner QE2 for New Year's Bash

The painting was included in Christie's auction house sale Wednesday of jewelry and other items from the collection of the late actress, who starred in "National Velvet" and "Cleopatra." A wedding dress worn at her second marriage to Richard Burton sold for over $62,000.

Eagles, Tom Petty to Perform at 2012 Jazz Fest

The Eagles, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Foo Fighters and John Mayer are among the headliners to perform at next year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

It will be the first year the Eagles and Tom Petty play Jazz Fest, the outdoor music event that features hundreds of Louisiana artists in such genres as jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, Cajun and zydeco. The festival is accented by national acts that in 2012 will include the Zac Brown Band, Herbie Hancock, My Morning Jacket, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Jill Scott and Florence & the Machine.

Eddie Murphy is to star in a television film under development byHBO about Washington's colorful and controversial former mayor Marion Barry, the U.S. cable channel said Tuesday.
