Mustaqbal Slams Attacks on March 14, to Continue Hizbullah Talks despite 'Provocations'

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc vowed Tuesday to continue the dialogue with Hizbullah despite what it described as the party's “threats and provocations.”

“We fully support the document's content and it is a national document that can be considered a roadmap for holding onto coexistence,” the bloc said after its weekly meeting, referring to the closing statement of the conference held Saturday by the March 14 forces.

Change and Reform Lashes Out at March 14, Calls for 'Silencing Rogue Voices'

The Change and Reform parliamentary bloc on Tuesday called for continuing the dialogues that are underway between a number of parties away from some “rogue voices,” noting the rival March 14 camp is trying to make up for its “losses” through the formation of a national council.

“Any remarks that take us backwards under various alibis are not beneficial and all rogue voices must be silenced,” the bloc said after its weekly meeting in Rabieh in a statement recited by former minister Salim Jreissati.

Birds Force Lufthansa Plane to Return to Beirut Airport

A Lufthansa plane was forced to return to Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport on Tuesday after a flock of birds caused damaged to one of its engines, reported the National News Agency.

It said that flight 1307, which had departed the airport at 4:48 a.m., was forced to return three minutes after takeoff.

Hizbullah and Iran are no longer enrolled on a U.S. list of terror threats, according to an annual report by the U.S. National Intelligence that was delivered to the Senate.

Hizbullah and Tehran, which comprise along with Syria and other organizations the “axis of resistance” that oppose Israel and Western policies in the Middle East, have exerted efforts to combat the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.

Fighters linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the Syrian al-Qalamoun are reportedly mobilizing and moving closer to the border with Lebanon ahead of a battle along the country's eastern border.
