Military Examining Magistrate Judge Riyad Abu Ghida heard on Tuesday the testimonies of ex-Minister Michel Samaha's bodyguard and driver over the bombing attacks plot.

Bodyguard Ali Mallah and driver Fares Barakat, who were arrested for questioning on Aug. 9 and later released, testified to Abu Ghida on the transfer of explosives from Syria in an attempt to carry out bombings in northern Lebanon.

3 Syrians Injured in Rocket Attack on Masharih al-Qaa

A Syrian rocket landed on a farmhouse in a northeastern border region in Lebanon on Tuesday, injuring three Syrians, one of them seriously, the National News Agency reported.

NNA said the Syrians work in a farm that belongs to Tony Habib al-Toum in Masharih al-Qaa.

Syrian Bus Overturns at Masnaa Crossing, 19 Injured

Around 19 people were injured on Tuesday when a bus carrying Syrians from the northern province of Aleppo overturned at the Masnaa border crossing in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa valley, the National News Agency reported.

NNA said the bus flipped over onto its side when the driver lost control and hit a concrete barrier near the Lebanese customs at the crossing.

Bkirki Rejects Proportional Representation Based on 13 Districts

Bkirki spokesman Walid Ghayyad revealed on Tuesday that the seat of the Maronite church rejects the new proportional representation draft law that was approved by the cabinet earlier this month.

“Bkirki rejects the draft law that divided the country into 13 districts because all the Lebanese failed to agree on it,” Ghayyad told al-Joumhouria newspaper.

The recent release of a Lebanese man who had been detained in Syria in the past 27 years brought back to the spotlight the issue of the Lebanese who went missing during Lebanon’s 1975-90 Civil War.

Kuwaiti Citizen Abducted in Bekaa Released

A Kuwaiti citizen abducted on Saturday in the Bekaa Valley was released on Monday and taken to the army barracks in Ablah.

“Prime Minister Najib Miqati has been informed by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel that the kidnapped Kuwaiti citizen Issam Nasser al-Houti has been released,” state-run National News Agency reported.

ICRC Calls for Data on Missing Persons in Lebanon

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Monday called on families of people who went missing during the various armed conflicts in Lebanon to get in touch with its delegation in order to provide information on the missing relatives.

“This step is a part of a project launched by the ICRC in April to collect pre-disappearance data,” the committee said in a statement.
