50 Charred Skeletons Found Near Gadhafi Military Base

Charred skeletons of some 50 people were found in a makeshift prison next to a military base abandoned by elite troops loyal to Moammar Gadhafi in southern Tripoli on Saturday, an Agence France Presse reporter saw.

Local residents discovered the remains after rebel forces took control of the base of the 32 Brigade commanded by Gadhafi's son Khamis in the district of Salaheddin.

Report: Armored Cars Cross from Libya to Algeria

A convoy of six armored cars that could be carrying high Libyan officials, even fugitive leader Moammar Gadhafi, crossed from Libya into Algeria on Friday, the official Egyptian news agency reported quoting a Libyan rebel source.

150 Prisoners Dead in Libyan Capital 'Mass Murder'

Forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi killed more than 150 prisoners in a "mass murder" as they fled the rebel takeover of Tripoli, a rebel military chief told Agence France Presse on Friday.

"There were instances of revenge in the last few hours before the fall of the regime," said Abdul Nagib Mlegta, head of operations for the takeover of the capital.

Italy Denies Battle with France over Libyan Riches

Report: Al-Sadr’s Body Thrown into Sea

The regime of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi killed Shiite cleric Moussa al-Sadr 33 years ago and threw his body into the sea, Iranian security sources said.

The sources, who had collaborated with the Shah’s regime, told an Iranian website that al-Sadr and his two companions Sheikh Mohammed Yacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine were killed upon their abduction by the Gadhafi regime and their bodies were thrown into the sea after being attached to cement blocks.

Gadhafi in South Tripoli or Headed for Desert, Says Ex-Top Aide

Embattled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is either in southern Tripoli or has already fled to the desert, his defected former prime minister Abdessalam Jalloud said Thursday.

"He has only four people left around him. There are two possibilities: either he is hiding in the southern part of Tripoli or he left some time ago," Jalloud, who fled Tripoli and has been in Italy since Saturday, told a press conference.
