HSBC, Goldman Sachs and Societe Generale are among a number of banks holding $53 billion (37 billion euros) of Libyan state assets, documents leaked to an NGO revealed on Thursday.

Global Witness said that on June 30, 2010, HSBC held $292.69 million across 10 accounts and Goldman Sachs had $43 million in three accounts, in various currencies.

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stated on Tuesday that no new developments have taken place in the government formation process.

He said after the movement’s weekly meeting: “There is no desire to form a government or an initiative to facilitate its establishment.”

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi on Friday denied reports suggesting that he had been wounded in conflict and said NATO bombs could not reach him, in an audio message broadcast on state television.

"I want to tell you that your bombing will not reach me because millions of Libyans bear me in their heart," said Gadhafi, who also thanked heads of state who had asked about his health after a NATO air strike on Thursday.

Radical cleric Omar Bakri, on bail in Lebanon on charges including incitement to murder, has called for prayers to mourn Osama bin Laden in Lebanon and outside U.S. embassies around the world.

"We call on our followers in Europe, Canada and especially Britain to pray for his soul outside American embassies," Bakri, who was based in Britain for nearly two decades, told Agence France Presse.

A hand grenade shook the Boulevard area of the northern port city of Tripoli at dawn Saturday, causing no material damage, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said that the grenade was tossed by unknown assailants near al-Baba building at 2:00 am. The blast did not cause any injuries or material damage, it added.

Two Lebanese citizens and a Palestinian from Tripoli’s Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood have disappeared, al-Akhbar daily reported Thursday.

It said worried parents headed to hospitals and resorted to the security forces to find out the whereabouts of the men.

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s media official, Ahmed Qasas accused Lebanese authorities of intimidation practices “that have turned Tripoli into a military barracks.”

He told the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in remarks published on Saturday: “They sought such tactics in order to deter the people from taking part in the demonstration that the party called for on Friday in support of the Syrian protests.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s demonstration in support of the Syrian protests ended on Friday without any security incident being reported.

The demonstration, which defied a ban by Lebanese authorities, began after Friday Muslim prayers in front of al-Mansouri mosque in Tripoli and marched towards the Nijmeh square in the northern port city amid heavy security presence.

Al-Mustaqbal movement denied on Thursday that it was involved in calls to hold a demonstration in support of the Syrian people in the northern port city of Tripoli.

The movement said in a statement that some media outlets and politicians were seeking to accuse al-Mustaqbal of involvement in the invitations for a demonstration against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime on Friday.

The security council of the North announced on Wednesday that it had rejected all requests to stage demonstrations in Tripoli, including Hizb ut-Tahriri’s anti-Syrian regime protest.

It explained that the requests did not meet legal conditions and they would have taken place when Christians in Lebanon would be celebrating Good Friday.
