Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat stressed on Monday the need to secure “firm resources” for the longtime awaited wage scale file.

“Beware of chaos. The wage scale must be linked to reform and fixed resources and it should be part of the budget plan,” said Jumblat in a tweet on Monday.

“It is illogical to say that it is either (Lebanon adopts) proportional representation or let vacuum be,” said Jumblat in a tweet on Thursday.

AMAL Movement leader Speaker Nabih Berri dispatched his political aid and Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil to Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri a day earlier, asking him to widen the cabinet into 30 members in order for the Shiite parties to get five ministerial portfolios instead of four that include the finance, agriculture, economy for the AMAL and the industry and youth and sports for Hizbullah, according to the daily.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat said on Wednesday that he prefers to be allotted to the health ministry again instead of being weakened in the new government line-up and given the social affairs ministry which he believes has been “drained” of its resources.

“After draining the social affairs ministry they suggest it be given to us, but I prefer not to be dwarfed in the new cabinet line-up,” said Jumblat on Twitter.

Sources of the Progressive Socialist Party of Jumblat, said “the final decision will be taken following a meeting between Jumblat and Aoun. The Democratic Gathering bloc will meet on Saturday to announce two major steps,” they added.
