Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel is expected to visit Roumieh Prison next week to inspect the conditions of the inmates and the facility, As Safir newspaper reported on Friday.
According to the report, Charbel will meet with several Islamist inmates, who will brief him on their demands.
There are around 190 Fatah al-Islam prisoners at the prison's bloc B.
The caretaker minister will also check the recent renovations in he facility after an investigation into corruption at Roumieh prison.
Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel has said recently that the funds allocated to renovate the country's largest prison facility had been wasted and squandered on commissions.
Roumieh, the oldest and largest of Lebanon's overcrowded prisons, has witnessed sporadic prison breaks in recent years and escalating riots over the past months as inmates living in poor conditions demand better treatment.
