Syrian Arrested at Beirut Airport for Smuggling Captagon Pills

Police have arrested a Syrian traveler after foiling an attempt to smuggle Captagon pills at Rafik Hariri International Airport, the Internal Security Forces said in a communiqe on Sunday.

Airport police found on Saturday around five kilograms of Captagon pills with the Syrian national, who had packed them in a box of sweets, it said.

The 44-year-old Syrian, who was only identified with his initials as A.Aa, had been planning to smuggle them out of Lebanon, the communique said.

The suspect was referred to the central anti-drug bureau in Beirut for questioning, it added.
