Chaar, 16, Passes Away after Sustaining Severe Injuries in Head
The death toll in the explosion that rocked downtown Beirut increased to seven on Saturday after Mohammed al-Chaar succumbed to his injuries.
Chaar was severely injured in the blast that killed Mohammed Shatah, ex-Finance Minister and the adviser of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and five others, including the official's bodyguard Tareq Bader.
Chaar, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time with three of his friends, was in coma since Friday morning.
The 16-year-old boy was submitted to AUBMC after the blast.
A picture was circulated on the social media websites, showing Chaar (wearing red) with his friends just a few minutes before the explosion blew up.
Omar Bekdash, Rabih Youssef and Ahmed Moghrabi have been wounded.
Dozens were wounded in the explosion in Starco, which left people with their clothes on fire and others lying on the ground, bloodied and in shock.
Shatah, 62, was heading to a meeting of the March 14 coalition at the Center House.
