Judge Requests Death Penalty for 14 Suspects over Bekaa Bomb Attacks

Military Tribunal Judge Imad al-Zein called on Wednesday for the death penalty against more than 12 suspects for planting bombs in the eastern Bekaa valley.

Al-Zein made the request in an indictment he issued against 14 Lebanese and Syrian suspects, seven of whom are in custody.

The judge issued arrest warrants against the remaining seven, and search warrants against another seven suspects, whose identities are not known.

They are accused of planting bombs and targeting cars and security forces on the road that leads to the Masnaa border crossing.

Several people were killed and injured in around four attacks that have targeted convoys belonging to Hizbullah in the eastern Bekaa region.
