2 Deminers Injured in Cluster Bomb Blast in South

Two people were injured on Wednesday during demining operations in southern Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Youssef Shweikh, a resident of the southern town of al-Mansour, and Anwar Fayyad from Ansar had injuries in their faces, hands and feet when a cluster bomb exploded in the town of Tairharfa, it said.

The bomb was left over from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in the summer of 2006.

The agency added that the injured men were taken to Jabal Amel hospital.

Shweikh and Fayyad work for Norwegian People's Aid, a humanitarian organization.

The U.N. says Israel dropped more than one million cluster bombs throughout south Lebanon during the last days of its devastating 34-day war with Hizbullah.
