Dutch coach Huub Stevens was fired by PAOK on Sunday, the Greek Super League club announced.
Stevens, 60, took over the club last June but the 2-2 draw at the weekend with Ergotelis, after PAOK had taken a 2-0 lead, on the back of elimination from the Europa League by Benfica last month led team directors to terminate his contract.
Stevens will be replaced by caretaker coach Giorgios Giorgiadis.
PAOK are currently deadlocked with Atromitos for second place in the Super League with 55 points, but they are 19 points behind runaway league leaders Olympiakos.
Stevens in 44 matches with PAOK had 25 wins, 9 draws and 10 defeats.
The former Dutch international defender guided German club Schalke 04 to success in the old UEFA Cup (it is now the Europa League) in 1997 and two German Cup triumphs in a successful first spell.
However, his second term there lasted only just over a year, he was sacked in December 2012 and that was his last coaching post before PAOK hired him on a two year contract.
Stevens has also coached Cologne, Hamburg and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.
