Falling rocks and debris from a landslide smashed into a construction site in the Roumieh area on Thursday, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
“Heavy rains led to the collapse of big chunks of a mountain in Roumieh when fell onto an under construction building containing around 20 workers,” MTV said.
“Three workers have been pulled out while one is still under the rubble and Civil Defense and Red Cross crews are trying to rescue him,” the TV network added.
MTV's correspondent confirmed that one person was killed and another was seriously injured, noting that “security agencies are conducting the necessary measures and the (Internal Security Forces) Intelligence Bureau is investigating if there is a construction license.”
The TV network said there are no buildings in the vicinity of the construction site and that the incident will be considered a natural disaster.
