Army Arrests Five People in Dahieh on Shooting Charges

The army announced on Tuesday the arrest of four Lebanese and a Syrian in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahieh on different shooting charges.

It said that it arrested Ali Jamaleddine, Hassan Rafiq al-Meqdad, Abbas Nasseredine, and Maher Issam al-Ali for opening fire on various occasions and brandishing weapons in the face of citizens.

They are also charged with attacking the army.

The military also arrested a Syrian for opening fire at dawn on Tuesday in the Bir Hassan neighborhood in Dahieh.

Investigations are underway with all of the suspects.

On Saturday, an individual dispute between the Meqdad and Nasseredine families escalated into an armed clash in Dahieh that left several people wounded and caused extensive material damage.

A reconciliation between the two families was reached however on Sunday following mediation efforts by AMAL Movement and Hizbullah

Armed clashes between families are common in Beirut's southern suburbs, which have recently witnessed deadly fighting between the Hjoula and Zoaiter clans.
