Rockets, Shells Land in Bekaa Towns

Several rockets fell on the Bekaa towns of Hermel and Arsal on Saturday evening without causing any fatalities.

LBCI television reported that two rockets launched from the Eastern Mountain Belt fell on the outskirts of Hermel.

But MTV said four rockets landed in the region.

"One rocket fell near al-Sader Foundation,” OTV noted.

Meanwhile two rockets fell on the Wadi Hmayyed region in the border town of Arsal, the state-run National News Agency said.

But later in the evening, the military institution issued a communique saying that two shells fell on the Wadi Hamayyed region, and two rockets landed in the al-Marh al-Shamali and al-Shahqouni-Hermel areas in the Bekaa.

"No casualties were reported and only material damage was recorded,” the statement remarked.

"Army units are inspecting the sites where the rockets and the shells have landed to detect their types, and accurately determine where they were launched from," it added.

Since Hizbullah's intervention in the fighting in Syria, rockets from the Syrian side of the border have frequently landed mainly in Hermel and in Britel.

Earlier in May, two rockets launched from the Eastern Mountain Range landed in the outskirts of the Baalbek town of Britel without causing any injuries.

The assaults are usually claimed by Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon and the Islamic State in Iraq of Iraq and the Levant.
