Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq has lauded the cooperation between the army and the Internal Security Forces in confronting terrorist groups operating in the country.
Al-Mashnouq expressed relief that the coordination between the army and the ISF Intelligence Branch “confused terrorist groups and made their movement more difficult.”
The security agencies have many leads on the bombing in Dahr al-Baydar and the activities of terrorist cells in Lebanon, he told As Safir daily published Monday.
The investigation will reveal more details about terrorist plots, he added.
On Friday, a deadly suicide car bombing hit an ISF checkpoint in Dahr al-Baydar, the entrance to the eastern Bekaa Valley.
The attack was the first inside Lebanon since March.
The ISF and army have also arrested over the weekend several suspected terrorists across Lebanon.
The priority at this difficult stage is to safeguard Lebanon and limit tension between the rival political parties, al-Mashnouq told As Safir.
He called for resolving the dispute on the wage scale draft-law and agree on a mechanism to help the government function in the absence of a president.
