Mustaqbal Hopes for Dialogue that Ends Presidential Void, Says Larijani Stances 'Unacceptable'

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc hoped Tuesday that the dialogue with Hizbullah will be a starting point for ending the presidential void, stressing that it “completely rejects” the stances of Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani about the state and Hizbullah.

In an statement issued after its weekly meeting, the bloc said that it hopes the “dialogue with Hizbullah can pave the way for agreements, ending the presidential void and putting an end to the tension and confusion in the country.”

The dialogue, which started Tuesday, will be held between top officials from Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal Movement and the priority will be defusing the Sunni-Shiite tensions that are growing bigger in the region.

About the Iranian Speaker's stances about Hizbullah and other political groups, which he considered as “more effective than some states,” the bloc commented that “this position undermines the idea of the state that unites the Lebanese people.”

Based on that, the bloc announced that they “completely and categorically refuse this stance, because the state remains the only force that has the right of extending its authority across the country.”

On the servicemen who are held as captives by jihadist groups, the bloc re-stated that “the Lebanese government is the only side entitled to liberate them.”

The bloc highly rated “the efforts of the security agencies in discovering criminal gangs related to the Syrian regime and accused of kidnapping anti-regime Syrians in Western Bekaa and handing them to the unjust regime in an illegal manner.”

"This is a blatant assault on the state's sovereignty and on human rights,” the bloc said, adding that “busting the Baathist kidnapping gang is a dangerous issue and needs the efforts of all the security forces to keep track of similar gangs and dismantle them.”

"We need to implement the security plan which is being blocked by 'de facto forces' enjoying cover from some well-known parties in the Bekaa region,” they added.
